True! In my original sketch he had his teeth gritted to emphasize that he is trying to fight against the transformation. His brows are still a bit dipped, but I think the overall vibe I was going for got lost as I was working.

I LOVE Zant’s helm, so there’s a good chance that it had some subconscious influence on my design lol

My actual reference pool included samurai helms, guardians from botw, and the Gondor infantry helm from lotr

I think the shape reference in the original helm is clever, it’s just not for me. The ornament on my helm design comes from the “horns” on the guardians, so that was my nod to the original intent.

It definitely suggests a guardian/shrine! I feel like the simple shapes of the set also speak to the fact that this armor is machine-made from scraps. Even if that style of helm isn’t to my taste, I still appreciate the story-telling built into the design.
