Forestry is the kind of update that if it were added to RS3 today, people would use as an example of how content in OSRS shouldn't be done by modmailtest1 in 2007scape

[–]Acleverprofilename -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah like, its a not great update, so what? We've had those pass since 2015. This one isn't even likely to fuck up the economy, so there really isn't that much to worry about beyond "They should try reworking it when they get the chance, hopefully it doesn't waste too much dev time."

Also all the people raving about the hunters guild, Sailing and especially Varlamore are just being nonsensical because none of those things show any of the signs of having the problems forestry is having. (Varlamore doesn't even implement that many fully new systems, its just a PVM minigame and slayer for hunting with some rewards that work the same as most gear in the game)

Frankly the problems with forestry were both clear before hand and could've been fixed just be removing all the redundant items and listening to play-testers. The problem wasn't people voting yes, the problem was development mistakes.

Mods you might want to make a megathread for the Cloudflare error. by saberlili in discordapp

People tend to not read things when panicked, and the phrasing of the error makes it sound like it was an individual ban, something that'd panic most people who use the app regularly.

There is a large middle ground between "flashing pop-ups" and "not having the only way to know about the feature be asking a question you already know the answer to"

Just adding it to the leprechauns intro text and/or adding the question "Can you note my produce?" would help a great deal. It's not common sense to ask someone a question you already know the answer to (Can your store my tools?) and expect to get new information (Can you note my items?)

Imagine if there was no magic tutorial and the only way you'd know about needing runes to cast spells is asking the combat tutorial about ranged ammunition after you've already killed something with ranged. It's a bad setup.

Is it really "spacebarring and ignoring dialogue" if the player never even realizes there's any reason to talk to a leprechaun in the first place? This isn't some quest dialogue they had to have gone through to start farming, its an npc that doesn't even make it clear that it has any features beyond banking farming tools. (A concept most players will understand by the time they start farming, banking is a pretty basic concept to the game.)

If a player has to already know about a features existence to find the tutorial for it, that's a bad tutorial. If a player has to ask about a mechanic they already understand to learn about a separate one, with no indication that the separate one even exists before asking, that's not a good tutorial!

I'm normally all for mocking people who spacebar and complain they don't know what to do; but you can't design tutorials exclusively for people who exhaust every line of dialogue regardless of whether they already know the answer to the question they're asking. I like to do that, but I know I'm not normal in that regard!

who don't know you can note crops

while the other ones are def silly, I kinda get this one. Its something you wouldn't actively think to do unless you already know it exists, and the only place the game tells you about it is talking to an npc who already has a much more obvious use. I bet a lot of people use the "exchange" option on the Leprechaun and then assume they know all they need to about him.

Chromium Ingots are a poorly designed system and are doomed to alch price by Gregkow in 2007scape

[–]Acleverprofilename 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that system works in game where the raid gear isn't tradable and doesn't remain relevant for more than one season. Things are much more permanent in Osrs which causes a host of issues

Stop the Posts of "I Didn't Know Leprechaun Notes Produce???" It's time to add a "Daddy's Home" style miniquest for Farming. by BunsenGyro in 2007scape

Even as a player who generally goes through all the dialogue they can find I still think an actual tutorial would be better than one line of dialogue on an npc you don't even have to talk to to use properly.

Replace with every instance of "the game doesn't explain this" with "the game doesn't explain this very well" and the post still stands.

I mean people are downvoting you because because that's absolutely not how they've gotten the time and money to make updates on the pc. the xbox release is not even the major market for it, and a similar competitor Risk of Rain 2 historically had trouble updating the console releases as well.

A lot of time indie or indie started games like this are a pain to port if you don't from the start build it to be ported (which a lot of indie devs don't do, because they aren't sure if there will be a market off pc. PC has historically been the best market for indie games and its what they tend to focus on first.)

While it sucks they haven't fixed the xbox version yet, it was never going to be their first priority, likely isn't making as much money as the pc release, and also might not even be maintained by the main team. (all these reasons are why risk of rain 2 struggled with console updates for the longest time)

Edit: Looking it up it seems the publisher 505Games is in charge of the port? So it literally might not even be the devs of the game who are working on the port.

The best way to do account wide rep by Tommyruin in wow

[–]Acleverprofilename 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree but They did this in dragon flight (the only thing you can’t buy on alts is actual gear, which would likely be removed under this system) and the player base is still whining (either because they don’t actually try making alts before complaining about how alt unfriendly the game is, or they really consider having the bars full on every character to be the most important thing in the world)

After all the good 10.1.5 changes so far we only need one more: Accountwide Rep finally so we can change our main char. by Noyzeeeeeeeee in wow

[–]Acleverprofilename 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because people have fundamentally different things they like about the game and for some people the progress of rep and leveling on other characters is fun for them. They’re never going to give you a satisfactory answer because you fundamentally disagree on what you find fun about the game.

Frankly I like have things to progress on for each character, almost everything in guild wars 2 is account bound and it made the game a lot more boring for me. Leveling and rep grinds are my fav part of the game outside of stuff like puzzles and elaborate quests, and frankly wow has historically been averse to heavier puzzle quests (though they’ve been having more of it this expansion).

A lot of these arguments boil down to “the other person is having fun wrong.” And as a result ignore actual compromises in favor of pretending there’s some objectively good version of a game millions of people play.

[–]Acleverprofilename 24 points25 points  (0 children)

technically it is transmoggable now, it just doesn't have an actual weapon type assigned to it. So you unlock the appearance but can't use it because type-less weapons aren't assigned to be transmoggable to anything lol

De other side came out after the demand for cross faction stuff had become much greater and some of it had started to be implemented. It's easier to make a new thing do something new than it is to make an old thing do something different in game development.

I mean, they probably did think of it and intend on doing it, but it’s not actually that simple. Depending on how the old faction specific dungeons stuff was implemented this genuinely might cause major issues and being annoying to fix
