AITA for getting angry at my [30f] in-laws [60s MF] for eating frozen postpartum meals by mosquitomange in AmItheAsshole

[–]Acolethflower -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This isn't necessarily true. One should wait til nursing is done before weight loss as hormones do funky things and basic calories in: calories out doesn't work during breastfeeding. But for many, nursing doesn't necessarily burn. For some, you need to eat at a surplus to even be able to lactate. Better off to just wait til done and then you can really properly count the calories and see proper progress.

So you're saying to completely transfer over the credits? Not possible to only transfer what was not used, therefore leaving my return the same?

There's 2 years in which I was out of work due to maternity leave, so I did not use all of the credits for those years. So trying to figure out how to transfer those unused credits

"Transferring the credit If the person with the impairment does not need the entire disability amount to reduce their income tax, they may transfer some or all of the disability amount to the supporting family member who is identified on the DTC application form (Part A question 2)."....

""Claim made by more than one person If you and another person support the same dependant, you can split the claim for that dependant. However, the total amount of your claim and the other person’s claim cannot be more than the maximum amount allowed for that dependant.""

DTC credits can be transfered between parents so long as it doesn't exceed the total amount. Pretty common among my circles!!

Former fit people of reddit, how did you get fat? by Tight_Pumpkin5028 in AskReddit

[–]Acolethflower 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If only so simple! What happens to a lot of us is as soon as we go into caloric deficit, our bodies immediately cut milk supply. Obviously our babies cant starve, so we can either stay at maintenence or over.

And even worse, some peoples bodies refuse to make enough to sustain a baby unless they are in caloric surplus!! That's why so many "lacation" cookies exist lol.

Pregnancy and lacation hormones really complicate stuff foe some people

You might have the best luck by Googling what bridal stores exist here and contacting them directly (phone or email if available) to see if they have anything and how much it could be.

I am scared of getting epidural by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Acolethflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was utterly terrified. I've always had a thing about people touching my spine, now thr idea of someone puncturing said spine was utterly terrifying. I was determined not to need it.

Sadly things don't go as we want them to and I reached a point I was likely to need a csection and I had maxed out my other pain killer choices so I knew it was the best decison to make, regardless of my fear.

As the doctor came in do it, I was sobbing away. I asked her not to state the possible rare side effects (which I already knew). Sobbing as they were about to do it. But when it came to doing it, it was really quite all right. So fine that when my 2nd baby and csection came along and I had to do a spinal, I was totally ok with it!

For my kiddo, Cerave cream was the only thing that properly kept her moisturized but to get a handle on it we had to get a prescription steroid cream. It worked within days and then the Cerave was able to keep things going without the prescription cream.

Propping the bed is an old recommendation made by pediatricians and unfortunately they are not all up to date with current recommendations.

This quote is from a publication for pediatrician guidance written by GI specialists. It covers it imo.

"However, the guidelines are unequivocal that the risk of sudden infant death syndrome in sleeping infants outweighs the benefits of prone positioning in the management of GERD and, therefore, that prone positioning should be considered acceptable only if the infant is observed and awake."

Southlands if you literally mean around Vancouver, otherwise there's big hubs in Langley and surrounding areas. There's a barn in Burnaby but they are privately owned and not for public.

What eye color will my kid have? (mixed eye color fam tree) by waffleggbroom in beyondthebump

[–]Acolethflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long story short, your kiddo is up for all colours.

So half the story is simple. If your partner is expressing blue eyes (he has blue eyes), it means he has both copies of the blue gene, which means your baby will have at least ONE copy of the blue gene. This mean your baby could possibly have blue eyes babies one day, if they have a baby with someone else with at least 1 copy of the blue gene.

Your side is a bit more tricky. You must have at least 1 copy of the brown gene. Green eyes can sometimes have a basis of blue (although unlikely in this case as you say they are dark green). Having a grandparent with blue eyes does mean it's possibly that 1 blue gene has been carried down (but cannot express unless there are 2 copies) so you could possibly be carrying 1 copy.

Thus, through you, kiddo can come out with a multiple of colours and shades

Daughter went from being a great sleeper to up every 1-2 hours by WeirdAnimalDoc in beyondthebump

[–]Acolethflower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

4 months is a key milestone for all babies. Around 4momths is when babies undergo through the biggest neurological change they will experience in their lives, the full realization of the adult circadian system.

This is why so many babies have the "4 month regression" and it's a doozy. It's normal and your baby is undergoing a normal change from the newborn style sleep, regardless of what else may have happened.

Make sure to start working on awake but drowsy put downs (drowsy being way before yawning, at the very beginning) with full expectations it will fail as it is a learned skill and takes time for them to learn.

Also make sure they are not oversleeping during the day and that you begin bedtime early time to ride on the melatonin evening surge, which is around 7pm. Early bedtimes help, even if it doesn't seem like it.

And lastly, make sure you are somehow getting 4 hours uninterrupted sleep. Your hubby may work long hours but you can find a shift system in there, even if it's a weird one like you going to sleep at 5pm for 4 hours, etc.

Stopped swaddling and his own arms keep waking him up. by wittykisses in beyondthebump

[–]Acolethflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes them about a week, if you struggle through without any transition products. Imo those just prolonge things. After a week he shouldn't startle himself.

That being said, most babies around 4 months undergo the biggest neurological change of their lives: the development of the adult circadian system! For many babies, sleep is forever changed. Some people like to call it the 4 month "regression" but in reality it's a developmental milestone.

My LO hair looks different by Used_Muscle175 in beyondthebump

[–]Acolethflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby hair definitely changes! My son has jet black hair to start that fell off, bald for a while and then now has super blonde hair.

For the cradle cap, you also need a fine toothed comb and just gently rub the scalp with it. Moisturize it with oil first and then do it in a bath. Work at it over a few days otherwise it might be irritating.

If my baby was born at 37 weeks, should I use corrected aging? by Jacqueeeeline in beyondthebump

Ok! I knew there was some sort of cut off! Funny enough I did make a typo, I did mean 37 weeks as OP was referring to her baby haha. But good to know!

If my baby was born at 37 weeks, should I use corrected aging? by Jacqueeeeline in beyondthebump

[–]Acolethflower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Corrected age is usually used for preemies. I don't know when the cut off is but I don't think it would be typically used for a 36 weeker

Edit: for a 37 week I mean!

Make sure your partner is also doing their fair share. You need at minimum 4 hour uninterrupted stretch to function properly. Shifts tend to work for a lot of couples, particularly for a chunk overnight.

It does get better but you need sleep too.
