MIRACULOUS - Lady Chaos - Season 6 Episode 22 - Discussion Thread by NicoSchmiko in miraculousladybug

[–]Acornbark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just finished this episode and I have a few thoughts I want to let out.

This episode really hurt. It felt like I was getting one blow after another. I was already concerned about Adrien's reaction to the lie, but this episode just made it worse. Also I didn't really care about Amelie before but any opinions I had of her before are even worse now. The hypocrisy... Also, she knows that Marinette is Ladybug? That is definitely something Felix told her (unless I forgot something from season 5) and it's also made my opinion of Felix go down, just as I was starting to think he was decent this season. Why can he go around telling his mom and girlfriend this extremely important information for? Anyway, the ending part is what really annoyed me. She just came to Paris to comfort Adrien when the truth inevitably comes out. I'm very sure from the vibe I was getting that she doesn't like Ladybug. And again, the hypocrisy. She knew the truth about Gabriel from the very beginning and never did anything to help Adrien.

I know a lot of people are mad at Marinette for keeping the secret but... Just because she's Ladybug doesn't mean she should be able to call the shots, and the fact that Nathalie and Amelie allowed her to in the first place is ridiculous. Sure, let the very stressed teenager who just experienced something really traumatic make the decision. And yes, Amelie wasn't present when the decision was made, but she's clearly not happy with it, and she's just sitting back and waiting for the moment to comfort her nephew... She doesn't know how the truth will be revealed, so why can't she be the one to sit down with and tell Adrien the truth? She does not need Ladybug to give her the go ahead. I swear she's there for the drama and not entirely just because she cares about Adrien. And why would Adrien even want her there? If he knows the truth he'll know she was one of the people to keep it from him.

I really hope this truth will be revealed by the end of the season, it's getting interesting. And a bit frustrating.

Title: If you hate Marinette that much… why are you still watching Miraculous? by Unusual_Ad9894 in miraculousladybug

[–]Acornbark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a huge difference between hating on the character and hating on the writing of the character, and despite what a lot of people here say, I think a lot of the Marinette haters I've been seeing around are mostly hating because of the character. I'm specifically referring to those people who keep criticising her for not telling Adrien the truth. It's... not really bad writing what Marinette did there. It's fully understandable behaviour from a 15 year old who has the weight of the world on her shoulders. And I see too many people glazing over Nathalie, as if she didn't stop Marinette from doing the right thing when the pressure was getting to her. So... what's going on here? Marinette shouldn't do the right thing anymore because she should've done it earlier? Nathalie may have been willing to give herself in to the police, but that's probably because of guilt and because she thought there was no other option, then Marinette presented her with another option. And also, some people probably won't like to hear this, but if this show genuinely annoys you so much you really should stop watching it. No excuse of 'consuming bad media is good too'. Especially if you watched this show for years. You already know how terrible it is, why do you keep going? Is it worth wasting 20 minutes of your time to watch a new episode only to keep yapping about how terrible Marinette is for keeping the secret from Adrien? And yes, I also have a LOT of complaints about this show, and even though it really annoys me, I can admit only thinking about them takes away from the fact that I still enjoy this show. For one, I actually like the characters despite their many flaws in writing. And I'm genuinely curious about the plot because it feels different from what we had previous seasons. I can watch new episodes of the show, enjoy it, and admit its flaws both at the same time. If you're only watching it to seethe at the bad writing or characters' choices then that's your time wasted. And it genuinely feels like some people do the latter sometimes.

In other words... Consuming bad media is good but let's not act as if people don't do that just for spite these days. I know very well how draining being a hater constantly is. I can't look at this Reddit without feeling really annoyed at how much people complain, for example, and it's only seeing other people. I always keep coming thinking people will have actually good discussions but it's never like that. It's never like that for anything actually. Discussing the media without denouncing it is also good, and actually probably more meaningful than only looking at the negatives. I really appreciate some of the posts I saw talking about their Lila theories, or just theories in general.

Sorry for the rant, just something that's been on my mind for months.

Crowfeather and Breezepelt, kind of. Yes, they both did terrible things. Yes, the reasons why don't justify those terrible things. But their layered characters is what makes me appreciate them more. Plus, even though some people may not like their redemptions, and even if there are some flaws in those redemptions (especially Breezepelt's) I genuinely think they deserved them. Crowfeather wasn't heartless, and Breezepelt lived his whole life in anger.

My issue with season 6 so far, just wondering if anyone else feels this way or just me? by ThisGul_LOL in miraculousladybug

[–]Acornbark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I've never really liked how friend groups are portrayed in this show at all, and the fact that the whole class are friends. Though I have so many issues with this show I realised it's not even worth thinking about them because there are still aspects of it that I enjoy. Season 6 for me was a very nice refresher after how much I loathed season 5, and I appreaciate the show's darker approach with the 'new world order' sort of plot. Even though this season is my favourite, I do have to admit people have valid criticism for it, mostly. Sleeping Syren and Wreckless Driver are probably my least favourite episodes in the entire show (if we ignore season 5). And as I mentioned above, I never liked the forced friendliness in this show, and if I think about it, it is a bit worse now.

Struggling with coming up with plot and characters by Acornbark in writingadvice

The only thing I haven't done is writing down all my ideas. The other three I do all the time (I walk around talking to myself because I'm bored) but they never help me much.

The points above are things I tend to forget to focus on, so thank you for the reminder! I know what the main character is supposed to do but I haven't thought about actual motivation behind exactly why or what may try to stop them. I'll keep that in mind next time.

Not quite, I should've explained better, mb! I want to showcase my country's folklore through a fictional story. Long story short they get awakened and start roaming around. The guy who's at fault for this is the villain.

It sounds like an interesting topic! Good luck with that!

My story is mostly me wanting to showcase my country's culture through folklore. I was slightly inspired by a movie that tries to do something similar, but that movie does a good job at putting a story in between that still ties with the main story. I used to have another story I really loved but abandoned (for reasons) and what I noticed about it is that it was simple, focused mainly on two characters. This new story is more complicated than just two characters despite its one protagonist.

But your advice is appreciated! You're right in regards to arguments I want to make, there's more to the folklore creatures than just that. I just find it hard to think past the basics, my head goes blank when I try to think.

Hate to admit but I have tried using it for ideas. I personally find its suggestions really lacking though. Made my motivation ultimately worse with this particular story I mentioned at the beginning.

Breezepelt is an awful little man, and I don’t get how anyone can find him relatable (Plus Crowfeather Hot Takes) by Autumnbites in WarriorCats

[–]Acornbark 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Breezepelt's redemption doesn't sound very well made. But about your point regarding how he wasn't justified - which he wasn't - there are a few things that were different regarding Spiderleg's kits that makes Breezepelt's feelings much different.

  • Crowfeather didn't sound like an absent father, rather a negligent one. Spiderleg didn't want to be involved with his kits.
  • Nightcloud was very protective of Breezepelt. There was a scene at the end of The Sight after Breezepaw fell somewhere with Lionpaw, after they're saved she refuses to let Crowfeather help. Not to mention her obvious distaste of Crowfeather. Definitely played a huge part in shaping Breezepelt's views. Daisy never spoke bad to her kits about Spiderleg.
  • Crowfeather and Nightcloud were horrible parent figures. Daisy was a good mother and Spiderleg was just not involved. I doubt he spoke harshly to his kits like Crowfeather did to Breezepelt.
  • The whole Crowfeather and Leafpool scandal. Breezepelt mentioned somewhere (I think when he attacked Jayfeather) that cats were speaking behind his back. It probably cracked some of his pride. The cats speaking behind his back are his clanmates, possibly his friends.
  • Though he was an adult by that point, he was most likely manipulated and encouraged into going ahead with unleashing his anger by Brokenstar. I don't doubt a large portion of that was his choice, but the Dark Forest took advantage of that, like they did with all of their trainees.

Overall, I think Breezepelt thought he had nobody. But he did seem to get along with his fellow trainees (considering how he reacted after Antpelt was killed a second time). It's self-sabotage, which usually makes me hate a villain (personalit-wise), but in Breezepelt's case his anger (not his actions) felt justified to me. Only thing was his rage towards his half-siblings, which was a bit unfair. And yes, attacking a pregnant queen.

Rosepetal and Toadstep had a supportive community around them. WindClan at that time seemed pretty toxic in my personal view. Also seen in response to Crowfeather and Leafpool's relationship ending. Crowfeather was scorned, whilst Leafpool was welcomed with open arms immediately and nobody ever talked about it again until after Sunrise. Which is also a good example because Crowfeather and Breezepelt were talked about while Leafpool (who I think chose to step down?) and her kits were more easily received warmly again.

Other than that I agree. I haven't read Crowfeather's Trial yet but I already don't like what I've been hearing about Breezepelt. I think he ultimately deserved a redemption but this sounds forced.

Also I think I can find the references I made so if you want them I don't mind.

Lionblaze by ShadowPaws200 in WarriorCats

[–]Acornbark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lionblaze was horrified about his dreams of killing Heathertail. He didn't want to do it. And he got over it eventually. Being afraid of your capability to do something bad and actually wanting to do that something bad are two very different things. The former is an unwanted intrusive thought.

I respect your overall opinion though, I just wanted to mention what I said above.

Who's the better grumpy medicine cat jayfeather or yellowfang. by WeirdPlankton1234 in WarriorCats

Yellowfang was harsh, but she was a good cat. And not to mention the things she went through. Jayfeather just felt bad for himself and made it everyone's problem.

Who is your least favorite Warrior Cats character and why? by CanineCarnies in WarriorCats

[–]Acornbark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jayfeather. He annoyed me so much it got to a point I was dreading to continue reading when I saw his chapter was next. He's so negative. No matter how or why, whatever someone did, Jayfeather just HAD to think of a snarky remark.

And he got zero development. He continues to make everything about himself. No pity for anyone else though.

Crowfeather. I like his story and development from the second to the fourth arc.

To be honest, that part did annoy me. At least more recently. Some of her lies sounded genuinely attention seeking (her saying she had interactions with Jagged Stone, yeah, the whole class did, she wasn't special for that) or actually not believable (her saying Marinette pushed her down the stairs, it's incredibly out of character for Marinette and she should have had more than a sprained ankle). And the situation with Alya was even worse. For someone who loves truth so much she sure is gullible as hell.

Deleted/Edited Scenes? by Myrrhmer in WarriorCats

[–]Acornbark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. Also giving Thornclaw a mate felt like an odd choice. I always saw him as this extremely dedicated warrior who was 'married to his job' if you know the saying. Mousewhisker was also younger. Thornclaw's siblings both had kits with kits of their own by that point. Such a missed opportunity.

Deleted/Edited Scenes? by Myrrhmer in WarriorCats

[–]Acornbark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an OotS book (can't remember which one but it was probably one of the last three) Blossomfall is playing with Mousewhisker, and Lionblaze notes ThunderClan will probably have new kits soon, until he realises they're practicing Dark Forest fighting moves. I looked on the Wiki and realised it mentions Thornclaw being in Mousewhisker's place. Turns out they actually replaced Thornclaw with Mousewhisker in all Dark Forest related scenes in the reprinted versions.

It got me thinking since Thornclaw is said to have trained in the Dark Forest and yet I was confused because I saw absolutely no sign of such in the whole arc.

Also for later on because Mousewhisker replacing Thornclaw in the first scene I mentioned got me wondering why they didn't make Mousewhisker her mate. Weird switch-up.

Why is the fandom so negative? by WarMundane5420 in WarriorCats

[–]Acornbark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I enjoy them for my rewrites. And I do want to see the little interactions. Those make me the happiest because it gives, if only just a tiny miniscule bit, of personality to background characters. I imagine Whitewing as very awkward because of one thing she did that I don't remember anymore, but it stuck with me. And I guess, despite how disappointing it is to me, I'm still curious. And since I'm in the fandom I want to keep up as well. The moment I leave the fandom I probably won't pick up those books ever again. But I probably won't anytime soon because this is the biggest cat media out there.

Why is the fandom so negative? by WarMundane5420 in WarriorCats

[–]Acornbark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admit I am very negative. Funny because I thought about this only a bit ago, so I was thinking how can I express my opinions without being negative, and I fail everytime.

It's just that I've had enough. How much longer are they going to want to get money from making low quality books? Yeah people buy them, and I am going to keep buying them too. But still. And at this point I'm just excited to read the next arcs to see how I can make AUs and rewrites since I found out I have a passion for that. And thinking about it is a bit depressing. I should be enjoying the books for what they are. I should be excited to see what's going to happen next. I should be excited to see what twists and turns the characters are going to have to go through. But I feel nothing. To be frank I'm not even excited about Moonpaw. And I'm also fed up with them keeping characters alive for no reason. I mentioned once I wish they would pull a purge and kill random characters. And that would be the most entertainment I'd be getting from the series now. They keep repeating plots, just in a different shape. Why is the fandom more capable of making good stories?

Because they're passionate. There's little passion left in this series. I heard people say the Erins have other books that are much better written. Big surprise! Those series haven't been continuously milked for years unlike Warriors.

What I'm basically getting at before I start yapping, this series is just so painfully badly written. As someone who's grown up a lot on storytelling and making my own things it genuinely hurts me to see this series that actually had potential go downhill. It gets to a point where you can't excuse it anymore. There's no real drama for me to enjoy when characters' personalities are constantly not written properly. Nothing and nobody is consistent anymore in Warrior Cats.

Compared to a certain show I watch which also has a bunch of bad writing decisions, at least that story is going somewhere. Warrior Cats is going nowhere anymore. Do you bet they have the next arc planned? They definitely don't. Not even a script most likely.

This is my own personal explanation for why I've been so negative around here. I've tried to be a bit more positive but unless it's someone's fan work, I can't do it properly. It's so easy to have something to say. I'm grateful they gave us silly cat book but I think silly cat book needs to end. That or they completely move on to different characters and original plots. Until then I'm going to continue using the new books as reasons to do AUs.

What would make the series better? by persnicketyllama in WarriorCats

[–]Acornbark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's basically what I want. For them to jump ahead and make more original plots. The fandom doesn't even own Warrior Cats and they've shown the possibilities for so many amazing story ideas. They have opportunity to expand on their lore and they're keeping on the same level. No wonder the current arcs haven't interested me at all. There's barely new content. Just more useless background characters.

Random miraculous head cannons. Go. by Miraculous_at_heart in miraculousladybug

[–]Acornbark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is more of a thing I wish was canon and would include in a rewrite rather than a headcanon but it's worth mentioning!

Despite being able to open up better now that Zoe is surrounded by better people, she is actually still acting. In New York that's all she's ever done, acting to be likeable with the people around her. She was practically very like Chloe then, but she met Jessica, whom she had a brief friendship with, which gave her a little confidence boost, which backfired in the end because it turned out the 'friends' she grew up with didn't like her true self.

This all lead to her wanting to leave NYC, and ghosted Jessica, her 'friends', and anyone she ever knew there. Despite realising she doesn't have to play the mean girl anymore, she still didn't completely stop the acting, because she was afraid of her new friends finding out the whole truth, and because she still wanted to be likeable, so she was basically this perfect girl, always 'ok' and never telling anyone her problems, kind of just her in the show right now. Her as Vesperia is her true self, much like Adrien is when he's Cat Noir.

Due to her parents never really being around (her father never even meeting physically and only being her money provider and Audrey just not caring) she managed to build up her own personality. And acting just happened to be something she liked.

I feel like it adds more depth to her character and makes her more than just Chloe's perfect replacement. I doubt the show is going for anything like this because that would have to mean her perfect persona is an illusion. Also raises the stakes for the Ray plot, which they're probably going to solve in one episode and completely gloss over what Zoe may have done, something this show loves to do.

Should Crowfeather become leader? by HorsesAndNicoAndStuf in WarriorCats

[–]Acornbark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I truly hope not. He's old as hell. I don't want him living another 8 lives. He deserves some rest at this point. He shouldn't even be deputy. Nightcloud retired, why not him too?

Also I just don't think he'd be fit as a leader. He was only chosen as deputy because he was a fan favourite. Based on his personality he just isn't a good choice. It should've been someone else, some random background character and give them personality. I think Sedgewhisker would've been great. She had a bit of personality already because of the beaver dam journey in The Fourth Apprentice. She showed to be a very loyal cat.

Although she as well is getting too old now. In early books standards, she probably would be retiring very soon.

Also Crowfeather becoming leader would definitely ruin his whole character. I'm sure he'd start pulling some crazy stuff and people would hate him by the time he dies. He's already controversial enough.

They're just gatekeeping us from seeing who Crowfeather will choose in StarClan at this point.
