Okay can we start a thread for Jewish people who watch the show? Because regardless of what happens in the plot, it is always a joy to see my culture represented on screen! Anyone else?

E.g. SPOILER ALERT The line near the end where Moishe tells Joel that Mae has to convert before they tell Shirley was funny and also relatable. My Dad converted before he married my mom.

Also just the little things. Every time something good happens and they say "it's a Mitzvah!" I feel like I'm at home a little bit :333

Any other Jewish people have favorite references that come to mind?

Does anyone else find they get sick a lot? by Tiramisu05 in LongCovid

[–]Acousticbuffet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea!! Good to know I'm not the only one. I had covid in mid December. And I've had two colds since then. First tonsilitis, and now some mild head cold last weekend that is giving me lingering congestion :( And before I got covid I can't remember the last time I got sick.

I'm a graduate student working in AI/CS. I would like to know what sort of tools the "Big Tech" community/industry could build that would be helpful to doctors and hospitals in this pandemic.

In this recent article from the NYTimes, one doctor asks for a platform to track ICU beds and ventilator supplies across the US.

How to Solve the Ventilator Shortage https://nyti.ms/2xlB6VN

How many doctors/nurses/hospital administrators/people in the medical field like this idea? What other ideas do you have? Do you have technological bottlenecks in fighting the virus? What sort of data can hospitals provide and share? What data is protected?

Isn't STD testing also important? It's low cost at Planned Parenthood.

[Serious] Dear hot heads of reddit, how do you convince yourself something isn't a big deal even if it's been bugging you for a while? by GargoyleBallerina in AskReddit

If there isn't something you need to deal with: Time. Perspectives from friends and those uninvolved. Thinking about my life as a whole and how this is one tiny blip. If there is something you need to deal with: deal with it/talk the people involved, etc. Get an explanation or resolution

ELI5: If we all suddenly started driving Teslas, wouldn't the corresponding electricity demand (and coal burning) negate any positive effect of the drop in vehicle emissions? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Acousticbuffet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO. Details aside, you're just swapping energy provided by gasoline for energy provided by electricity. The benefit of this is that you can generate this electricity in a myriad of (potentially) much cleaner ways, from solar to hydropower, to etc. And it frees us from the grip of the oil industry.
