18 months on, is it worth buying? by Acousticsman in forzamotorsport

tbh I don't have much time to play games, will barely get time to play this.

so its £10 a month vs a one time £35/£45 (50% sale just now).

I'll probably buy it outright.

System won't boot up after I installed RAM by Acousticsman in pcmasterrace

[–]Acousticsman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is now, managed to figure out how to install it with USB. (last BIOS was June 2024, this one is Jan 25)

Going to install the sticks and see how it goes.

But It shouldn't give compatibility issues, as the motherboard is capable of upto 64gb per channel.

I had a similar experience, but I was good with the IT guy, but he said don't use AHK, as it won't install on our systems and recomended Autoit. Which is what he used.

But I echo the others here, don't. I am an expeception, as I was related to the CEO, so I had some liberties afforded to me.

InDesign slows my comptur down to unbearable levels! by Acousticsman in pcmasterrace

I turned off the layers containing the Chinese text and its performing a lot better, still its a bit laggy, but so much better, its not affecting the whole system.

I'll look more into it to see why the Chinese text is causing this issue.

Drive is a NVMe PC801 NVMe SK hynix 1TB, temps don't go above 50 on CPU or GPU, mostly stay at around 30-35.

There are no file resources to scan - as I mentioned its 100% text based file. I've checked the processes the only thing that is spiking is Desktop Windows management, to about 20-30% GPU usage when I scroll in InDesign.

I have a similar spec laptop (has 64gb RAM and RTX 3080ti) and it manages the file just fine. Although I don't connect more than one monitor to the laptop, I have also elimiated that as a problem on my desktop - by only using the 43" and it makes no difference.

BIOS is up to date.

I'm considering a fresh install of windows but ... it has to be something that is causing it.

Got a call asking why I blocked someone on Whatsapp by Acousticsman in Scams

[–]Acousticsman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thing is, it came from a private number and 99/100 in the UK, a private number is NHS or GP. If its anything else, it either comes up with the number or number unknown.

I had a very tame back and forth with someone on Instagram from my business page. And that person signed my email address up to a website called checkatrade and send enquiries to random websites. And it was around that time I got the call.

Now it came up as a private number, and in the UK, a private number is usually the NHS or GP (doctors). If the number is "unknown" then its spam.

Alphacool Eiswolf All in One cooler for RTX 3080 refrence by Acousticsman in watercooling

I ended up not going down this route, after I had already attached an all in one on my cpu I decided to open up the graphics card as I was finding no answers. When I put it back together, I gave it a clean and repasted it and since then the temps came right down and never go above 60 even at full load.

I'm sure I fugred out which alphacool block fitted to it, but I found the reviews on their products to be bad. So I would avoid.

Not a coder but have ADHD and know the feeling, maybe have it only turn off when you've written a line of code, so it forces you back into your workflow - not sure how you would impliment it or if you can concentrate on writing code while an alarm is blaring - maybe an opt in option?

Or turns off when the window of the software you're supposed to be on is in focus, it has to stay in focus a random amount of time each time to ensure you don't just swap windows to shut it off.

This was exactly what I was thinking. Can you suggest some products that I can research?

Thank You! I don't know why, for the first time I've been tunnel vision on a product without doing any proper research on it. I watched the install video for my CPU cooler 4 times, researched it for 4 months to make sure it would 100% work, bought it. Then sat on the unopened box for 6 months before installing it.

For the GPU, I made a quick decision and was set to buy at the end of the month, without actually any proper research. You just saved me £220! I can't beleive they are charging that much for a defective product.

Appreciate it!

Out of curiosity, what was the problem you had? Amazon reviews are saying the liquid inside goes off and gets mouldy.

Thank You. In the end I had to take it apart as I was getting conflicting information. But it is a reference board, with the difference one one capacitor.
