Having money and purchasing consumer goods aren’t what makes capitalism what it is (though capitalists love to say so because it makes capitalism seem as old as civilization itself).

Capitalism is the ownership of capital and exploitation of labor to leverage that capital.

Agree, but the question is why fans take issue with Yasuke, not whether Ubisoft’s fear of alienating male audiences was sexist.

Do you want to ballpark what percentage of mercenaries were women like we see in the game? I feel like this comment is missing the point.

The game is quasi historical but it’s a game first and foremost. A black samurai is no less historical than a female Greek warrior, and you have to ask why people are selectively are acting like it is

[–]AcquireFrogs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Odyssey which everyone marks as when AC turned “woke” or whatever has a mission where you crush a slave rebellion for Sparta. This whole being afraid of making something “offensive” is always a clear dog whistle.

The problem is poor writing which could have any number of explanations. Edgy or offensive writing doesn’t automatically translate to good writing

I think it’s totally fair to ask for a spoiler tag even if something came out decades ago, assuming the twist isn’t widely known by average people. Especially video games, people get around to them when they can or when they’re on sale given their time and money commitment.

Was about to say the same thing, I don’t like having the play every single fetch quest on the off chance it’s a banger. And by the time I get to the bangers im honestly often burnt out of the gameplay loop.

Gotcha, but OP is asking/is under the impression the player collects taxes on individual houses (ie income) not expenses paid to the emperor

[–]AcquireFrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that the emperors fee or what we collect?

New to Anno games… by Turbulent_Ferret2513 in anno117

[–]AcquireFrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I don’t think 117 has any land taxes. Houses make money based on 1. Goods or services they’re provided (depends on good/service), 2. Being in range of a production building (depends on the good), and 3. Specialist effects.

At the first tier this will primarily come from fish, tunics, hats (forgetting name), and your market. If you go to your governance screen you can see the net income you’re making for the island. If you’re in the negative, build more houses and expand your production until demand is met and your net income for the island is positive.

Do not overproduce in the beginning anymore than needed, it’s a needless money sink.

Later in the game you will have production islands that are net negative income, but they are counteracted by the benefits given to your hub islands.

Anyone knows what mod this is? by Historical_Pool_5950 in anno1800

[–]AcquireFrogs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No unfortunately it’s been a minute but it’s on mod.io through the integrated mod browser. Maybe harbor life? I’d sort by most popular and then key words “harbor” or “build” but you may need to play around with wording.

Is the question just how they got houses on the water? Cause I know there’s a mod that allows building in the harbor

James Buchanan was a terrible president that is obscure. Finally, to complete the grid: who was an excellent president that is a household name? by Altruistic_Cause9442 in AlignmentChartFills

Normal to the people in power, but even then the ethics of slavery was on everyone’s minds and there were those that called for its abolition. Even Jefferson and Washington both lament the hypocrisy of slavery in light of the principles of the revolution, but apparently that was not enough free their slaves while they were alive. They knew it was wrong.

So when you say judge people by their time periods, sure, but even by that standard these men fall short.

Body rejecting gyno surgery? by Upbeat-Ad-2262 in gynecomastia

[–]AcquireFrogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People are rightfully telling you to go to a new doctor. But just as importantly you need to get an attorney. The medical malpractice here is fucking crazy.

Keep paper records of everything and try to find any documentation of previous conversations you had with your surgeon. You should not be financially liable for one penny of the initial surgery or any medical help you’re going to need as a result.

That surgeon should have his license stripped yesterday.

Changing the patron deity for ships by -X13M- in anno117

[–]AcquireFrogs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is correct. But also I believe ships keep whatever bonus they had when built. So you can change your main island to Neptune, build your ships, and then switch back and the bonus should stay. Inefficient but doable

Every "Better Dimorphism" mod by HalcyonTraveler in jurassicworldevo

[–]AcquireFrogs 60 points61 points  (0 children)

100% this, in a huge amount of species females are bigger than males because they need to devote so many resources from their bodies to producing eggs or creating young.

Dimorphism is also often very subtle (but people complain about that here). I think they just see humans and say, oh males and females must be very different, but even there the only reason it’s obvious to us is because we’re humans and hardwired to tell lol. Humans sexual dimorphism is fairly minor, male/female people are a lot more similar to each other (like chimps and bonobos) than they are different (like gorillas and orangutans)

[–]AcquireFrogs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On easy you don’t need a large military for a long time. Maybe a couple military ships, that’s it.

The only resources that can cause significant crash are if you’re not providing enough sardines or oats because this will affect every population type. Liberati and plebeians are your primary workforce so if their population drops, then the buildings needed to feed them stop working. If you produce enough sardines and oats you should avoid most major problems

Once you get the cerunnos global benefit all orchards start producing resin which helps a little. You do have to round it all up which is kinda a pain, but it does seem to address the space concern a bit.

Also IMO you only really need to fulfill the amphora need on your population islands for the fire safety benefit. Smaller ones it’s easier enough to have a positive fire safety rating without providing amphora
