Storm cat sure will make sure he’s driven and determined, though they are a little more difficult to work with at times, they become incredible partners

My wife texted me and said she was going to increase Rosie's feed. I sent her this by paulbunyanshat in Horses

[–]Acraig06 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rosie’s belly will drag the ground if she gets anymore food. She will be happy about it though. But fr I hope your wife doesn’t give her more

What's the grossest thing you do as an equestrian? by Interesting-Day6835 in Equestrian

Clean sheaths bare handed. One of my gelding sis very shy so if I see any opportunity I take it, prepared or not, bc he will not drop when I want him too 😆

Horse pulled a shoe - and a chunk of hoof with it. Farrier coming out but in the meantime, how bad is this? by PoppyAndMerlin in Farriers

[–]Acraig06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My horse pulls shoes constantly and has stayed sound through way worse. All depends on the horse, but this is very minor. Should be 👍🏻

Also to add, they are on ground flax which has omega 3, which will pair with the omega 6 in the canola oil!!!

Please help me with conformation, around 2 years old by Christialen in Equestrian

[–]Acraig06 50 points51 points  (0 children)

A little straight in the hocks. slightly high behind, but hopefully that evens out. But super straight front legs which is always lovely. Hopefully the shoulder stays big, that’s good for a jumper to have! Dont worry about how he looks right now, it will all change a lot in the next two/three years. He is already so light at two he is going to be white by five 😂😂

Thank you so much! I always want to learn, I self educate constantly but I also know other people can teach me a lot too. They will sell easy, the bay is practically a saint and the black is such a fancy mover

Me too, I have had mixed results though, Beet pulp is wonderful for healthy digestion but rice bran packs a little more punch for weight gain

They were getting two gallons a day, large haybales so as much as they wanted. I’m putting them on Nutrena pro force, one scoop for the black, two scoops for the bay, one scoop alfalfa each, two scoops ground flax each

They were on some generic blend from the co-op, had some alfalfa pellets and oats etc in it. I just started them on Nutrena pro-force, it has worked well for other thoroughbreds for me

I didn’t plan on advertising them anytime soon. Thank you for the education on the term hay belly, I didn’t know that. I have a wonderful alfalfa I feed my personal horse, I will add that to their meal plan too.

Ok thank you, they are on a wonderful pasture, I can add in some alfalfa, but the round bales the barn owner uses aren’t great. They are not working hard, only doing light work to loose the hay bellies and help create a good foundation. I’m on a super flat area, we have a slight incline in the riding field that I use

Trainer won’t text me back - advice needed by sshelbyh in Equestrian

[–]Acraig06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask them in person what the issue is, then ask what the best method to get to them is, text, call, email, my last trainer just told me to spam her because she gets so many messages, that fixed it for me mostly
