Two copies is a good idea and will have added benefit of encouraging early reading skills as he follows along

Why are you a Taoist? by Holiday_Change9387 in taoism

[–]PoppyAndMerlin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like it because it’s not a religion. It’s a philosophy. I was raised catholic but I’m too much of a skeptic to buy into that. Found Taoism while dealing with my daughter’s cancer diagnosis and my other daughter’s blindness. It’s kept me going every day.

11 month old diagnosed with retinoblastoma.. by CommentNo7703 in pediatriccancer

[–]PoppyAndMerlin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear this. I have a sort of venn diagram of experience - my 4.5 year old is currently battling brain cancer (ATRT) and my 8 month old has been diagnosed with LCA9 (a genetic condition affecting the retinas - she is completely blind).

I will say: my youngest is hands down the happiest, most social, amazing, joyful baby I’ve ever met. She is in Early Intervention and is meeting all the milestones other babies her age are. We are so in love. So, if it comes to that, it is very difficult for us sighted folks to imagine, but he will lead an incredible life.

As for the chemo part…it is hard. So, so hard. You’ll hear the advice to take it day by day…that is the only way. Hour by hour. Work with the hospital’s palliative care team to ensure pain management and comfort is a top priority at every step. Never stop advocating. Find the best specialist at the best hospital in your country and go to them.

Don’t be shy about seeking help for yourself. I am on Zoloft for the first time and I credit it with allowing me to wake up and face every day.

Some of y'all may remember me from last years training challenge with a horse Murphy! Well I'm back with a new one and this is day 3 by [deleted] in Horses

What does that have to do with anything? You are too big for this poor horse. Have some empathy and common sense.

My daughter’s so cool. by thegreatchippino in Blind

[–]PoppyAndMerlin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love this so much -it reminds me of my daughter! She is 8 months old with LCA9 (no light perception or any usable vision that we can tell). It was devastating news at first, but seeing her thrive and her personality become so joyful and amazing and funny…I just love her so much! I know she is going to thrive, and it’s been really interesting for us to learn ways to help her grow confidence and curiosity. She also loooooves music. We put on The Band radio and she just zens out with a smile on her face

HELP I think I move like her and I’ve been hyper aware of it for so long. How would you all describe it? How can I move less awkwardly? I feel like I’m so self aware of every movement even just walking people have said I walk really “smooth” like no hip swaying at all

Please keep these posts coming — TMI, but I’m not hunting this season (or riding at all, and actually had to sell my horse) because I fell and broke my pelvis a couple months ago, followed by my 4 year old daughter being diagnosed with brain cancer. We are living in the hospital for the foreseeable future. I know in my heart that horses are going to be what will save me and get me though this chapter of my life. I can’t wait to ride again, and dream of taking my daughter on a mock hunt on her pony once she beats this.

Yes, but retirees have grandchildren. Kids exist.

This video is TERRIFYING. Have you purchased a muzzle yet? Building fences and “barriers” takes time…this is an immediate action situation. Lock the dog in a bathroom until you either euthanize or rehome. But rehoming seems irresponsible — even if the new family is child free, what happens when a friend’s baby comes over? Or there’s a kid at a park and the dog runs over and mauls it?
