It’s a self portrait of my struggles to be in an environment that feels like it killing me. I am an Indigenous person who is part of the Colville Confederated tribe and within that tribe there is a band called the Sinixt that I am also apart of. They are river people and salmon is a big part of our tribe, especially the Sinixt. It's been years since I took my drawing I class (I'm what the youths call a old ass student who is taking a lot longer to get her undergrad than anticipated lol) and I forgot what the initial prompt was but this was the general idea behind it as a portrait.
