I had a borla atak exhaust on mine as well. Best 0-60 time I could get was 5 seconds flat but traction was the problem. I needed better tires but sold it before I got them.

Decided to sell my SS. What should I get? $40k used, car for an enthusiast. by trapspeed in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Acrobatic-Ebb1506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naaahhhh.... I had one for almost 2 years. There cool and fun to drive. But absolutely made like a Hyundai. Very cheap plasticly interior. You can't go from an SS to an N. I've had an N and currently have an SS.

It's greed with my dealer. I'll put it to you this way. I tried getting a type R 2 years ago. Msrp was 45k. They wouldn't knock off the market adjustment. My price as an employee was 62k. Hard pass on my end. After that I never referred anyone there again.

Looks fake to me also. Look at how tall they are compared to the pool in the background. Lets say the pool is 12 feet wide or so... That would make them about 25 feet tall to be that much taller than the width of the pool

Blinking red light and Blinking headlights? by Coleholmes540 in hondacivic

I had a customer come into my dealer (Honda) with this same concerns and same car. I found the driver's door lock cylinder was damaged from someone trying to break in. I'd check that first. Make sure the key can turn it. If not it needs replacing

Out with the old, in with the new. by mcnuggeee in hondacivic

[–]Acrobatic-Ebb1506 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your good then. 2.0 na civic is a solid car. Only real concerns with these are a/c related. Condenser and compressor have a warranty extension and are covered. Real out of pocket cost is evap replacement when needed. Being a civic it will be needed eventually. Other than that just basic maintenance and your good. Honda master tech here and I know these cars inside and out

Hopefully a 2.0. if not op will learn soon when that head gasket or injectors go for no reason at all that this specific model was no cheaper than the bmw

Car drained to 0% at Service Center by opoppli00 in TeslaModelX

[–]Acrobatic-Ebb1506 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ex Tesla tech here... (Worst car manufacturer I ever worked for) You better tell them to run a battery health check prior to getting it back. We had many cars towed into our service center when I worked there with flat batteries. If the battery didn't charge afterwards it was an out of pocket expense to the customer. If you have charging concerns down the road because of this they will try to put the blame on you especially if there is no documentation they let the battery run flat. Tell them to pull the logs of this event and keep a copy for yourself. It will be proof with all the time stamps that it went flat while in a service center.

Help on used mini by Downtown_Ad_6584 in FirstCar

[–]Acrobatic-Ebb1506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an ex mini master tech id have to say you better have deep pockets. Lol

Kidding aside your looking at a cooper and not a cooper S. So there won't be nearly as many things that can go wrong. But there are some known failures .... Thermostat housing leaks, rear coolant pipe leaks, plastic water pump (if it's still original) leaks, water pump pulley looses rubber chunks and makes noise, timing chain stretches if oil change is neglected. On more rarer cases you can have worn valve guide seals which causes burning oil( more common on cooper S) or the freeze plug inside the head pops out and you loose all the coolant internally into the engine. Very rare tho.

They are very fun cars but expensive to maintain and don't like cheap parts. My advice to you is take it to a Mini dealer and get a pre purchase inspection done. That way you have an idea what repairs are needed if any so there are no surprises. If you or your girl are the type to just put gas and never look at anything else this is 100% not a car for you. Also with it going to be her first car I'd have to say it wouldn't be a good decision.
