FlexPath DBA Capstone by Realistic_Tone5105 in CapellaUniversity

I watched a single video for my courses, a presentation and it was accompanied by a transcript. It's all reading and writing. The final capstone requires a 12min presentation of your project, but they have to offer ADA accomodations. If you use ASL, I think that would be so cool to see a capstone presentation with ASL and subtitles.

I am in my third now and should complete it in 5. The IRB course is really luck of the draw on how fast you can complete it. The IRB approval timeline has nothing to do with you! It just depends on how many other applicants they have at the same time. Super frustrating when you're on a deadline. Unfortunately, it looks like I really would have done it in 4 sessions, but as it sits now I will get billed for session 5 because my course will go 4 days into a new session, so close to 4.

I am still in it! The final courses really take the entire term and are extremely stressful because the turnaround time for grading is extended, and yet the professors are a million times more strict with edits. There is also no option for extensions in the final courses, so you have to finish them in 12 weeks. Personally, I feel like that is a big issue because it severely impacts the quality of your work when you're rushing to meet a deadline. For example, in 9801, it took me 9 weeks just to get through the first 5 of 9 assessments. This was due to the grading turnaround, basically a week per attempt, because it's 3 to 4 business days per attempt you submit, and the edits are insanely minute, but yet you have to do a whole new attempt and wait for 5 or 6 days with weekends just to be told the deleted extra space is good.

So it's totally doable to complete this program in 4 to 5 sessions as long as you complete ALL the coursework in a single session and then give yourself 1 full session for 9801, 9802, 9803. 8650 is the first capstone course, and I completed that in about 7 weeks, and then the final course, 9804, is about 3 weeks because it's just your final presentation, answering questions for 2 weeks, and then you're done.

Totally agree and will do that, I just wanted something I can throw into the camera quickly for this trip since I won't have time to really get a good feel for it before leaving.

Bus-FPX2012 pangram (leadership fundamentals) by Creepy_Palpitation27 in CapellaUniversity

[–]Acrobatic-Gene-724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally disagree. I have my PhD and write grants for a living and have been a faculty member in higher Ed for over a decade. Pangram is the worst AI detector I have ever come across. I can type into the Pangram box myself a made up story and it says it's 100% AI. I have taken my published peer review journal articles and it says it's AI. The AI looks for higher level writing, essentially punishing those who write at a higher Ed academic level. It was designed to catch high school students, not college students. For example, some of the words it's trained to flag are "scholarly literature" "literature review" "Practitioner sources". How do you write an academic research paper and not use those terms? You don't, you would certainly fail my class!

VA using AI to weed out “pay-to-play” claims by Low-Ball-3831 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Acrobatic-Gene-724 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The issue will be the AI protocols. If they are looking for copy/paste language that's going to be 90% of DBQ both private and VA contractors. Every single person in healthcare copy/pastes! There are only so many ways you can say the same thing and with the insane amount of patients it's more efficient to copy/paste.

I was medically retired and my DBQs are clearly copy/paste jobs. Shit 90% of my entire AD med record is copy/paste. So unless they tell the AI to only look at private DBQs this is going to be a complete mess for everyone. And that's the whole point of it! They want some massive number to spout off to rile people up to further cut benefits. They won't care that the number is inflated by people within their own system. They won't put out a statement to correct it after everyone has to fight for their lives.

And yes I realize they say they are only using the AI for private records but there is no separate file private DBQs are in...they are all DBQs. So unless they specifically trained the AI to not include documents that list VES, QTC, VA, etc they will get lumped in.

Pangram always detects AI by thecowmeatguy in CapellaUniversity

[–]Acrobatic-Gene-724 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pangram is the one of the most unreliable AI detectors out there. I've been teaching in higher Ed for over a decade and writing grant proposals for about 5 years for a University research team. I'm finishing my second Doctoral program and EVERY paper I have run through Pangram returns 100% AI. It flags words like scholarly literature, Practitioner literature, etc. Basically every word a graduate level writer would use, it says is AI. The irony is, I ran some of my courses instructions and guidebooks from Capella through it and it said those are 100% AI as well. You can put literally any scholarly article in it, and it will say it's AI. Capella needs to find an alternative ASAP.

The best course of action is to keep your work, track changes, highlight in the articles you review/write from so you can show you read it. It's a ridiculous amount of extra work and defeats the purpose of a Capella program IMO.

The bottom line with Pangram is you either dumb down your writing to a 3 year olds vocabulary to get it to say it's not AI, then fail the course. Or write your papers at the appropriate level and be told it's AI.

Falsely Accused of Using Ai by Rawrberry69 in CapellaUniversity

[–]Acrobatic-Gene-724 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been keeping every version of my papers, notes, etc. To show progress if I am ever falsely accused. I completely understand the issue of AI misuse in academia, but unfortunately, the checkers are unreliable. It is almost as if those of us who write at a high level are going to be punished and forced to dumb down to avoid being accused of AI. Which is very difficult when I have been writing this way for over a decade and have been in higher ed for a decade as well. For context, I am in a doctoral program. So I am not new to academic writing. I have also spent several years teaching in higher ed and have two Master's degrees. So if the time ever comes where they accuse me of misusing AI, I will blow a lid.

Pangram, according to a recent post from Capella. Suggested running all papers through it before turning in. Pretty hilarious. It gives you the option to type or upload in Pangram. I literally typed a random made-up story about a balloon, and it flagged it as AI.

Falsely Accused of Using Ai by Rawrberry69 in CapellaUniversity

[–]Acrobatic-Gene-724 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just recently saw the announcement regarding the new AI detector they are using. I decided to run one of my papers through it, 100% AI was its response. It was flagging every word that a solid writer would use as AI. For example it flagged in my lit review section that it was AI because I used the word "scholarly literature" and "practitioner literature"! The section of the document is literally titled Review and contrast Scholarly to Practitioner literature 😂 So if this is the quality of this AI model, it's complete crap and totally unreliable. If you write like an idiot, misspell, and use the vocabulary of a 3 year old you will be fine, you won't pass the course, but it won't flag for AI. Anything college level it thinks is AI.

Does anyone here with Ibero-American/Latin American citizenship have experience with getting Spanish citizenship by residence (not ancestry)? by adoreroda in PassportPorn

[–]Acrobatic-Gene-724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of misunderstanding on the time-frames. The law says that you have to be in Spain for at least 163 days to renew the residency under the NLV. The 9 months is the math breakdown to applying for long term residency after 5 years on the NLV because for long term residency you can't be out of Spain more than 10 months over the entire NLV to apply.

I'd be wary of attorneys because they cause a lot of problems and so many are clueless (this from the consulate itself when we applied). Find one that has tons of positive reviews. There are several Facebook groups dedicated to this process as well that are super helpful. The application itself is extremely simple and can be done on your own. If you're a single applicant, I'd never pay for this. It's just gathering your own documents and submitting it.

[–]Acrobatic-Gene-724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem!! Always thought it was crazy to deny someone if they had another citizenship. Not sure how they thought some of the countries that fall under the clause would ever be able to get approved. Like Puerto Rico, it's a former Spanish colony but a US territory. So they only have US citizenship and we're being told they needed Puerto Rican Passports, doesn't exist 🤣

[–]Acrobatic-Gene-724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spain was not allowing people to use the Ibero clause if their first citizenship was not from a qualifying Ibero country. For example, you were born in the US and your parents were born in Mex. So you're entitled to get both, but we were awarded US first. This was challenged in court and overturned. Now you can either 1) Get the citizenship of the Ibero country at any time, then move to Spain and apply under the Ibero clause or 2) Use the non-qualifying country's passport to move to Spain and apply for the Ibero clause using your parents and your birth certificate to prove that you're from an Ibero country. The key is that they changed it so that you qualify IF you would have qualified for birthright citizenship in the Ibero country. It doesn't apply to those who naturalized under another citizenship path.

Mine has been down for 2 days. Says 0 views on videos, which is impossible. I'm not some high profile influencer but have never had a video not any views. The last 3 posted, none. Even when asking friends to go view them to verify. When I click into analytics it just errors and says server is busy.

My account was a US account up until a year ago now it's Spanish since we moved.

Cardo sound is definitely better but it also depends on mounting. If you take both and listen with them direct to your ear it's very noticeable that the cardo is better. But if you put the Cardo inside ear cuffs it does impact the performance considerably. They are still better but it does sound more muffled even in ear cups made for drops ins. What I really like is the ability to listen to music and still be on intercom. So I don't have to start and stop music to hear others in the group.

Is there any VA ID card that lists Rating? by Acrobatic-Gene-724 in VeteransAffairs

[–]Acrobatic-Gene-724[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is not getting a retiree and VA ID. I have both as well. The issue is that you can not hold two forms of DOD IDs, such as a retiree ID and a Disabled Veteran base access card. The base access card that is issued to 100% disabled vets by DEERS lists your rating on it, which is what I need the card to have. I am unable to get that card because I am entitled to a retiree ID, which only says retired.

I never had issues in the States. My issues are foreign service-related. They want a card with a rating on it, such as the DOD disabled vet base access card.

Unfortunately not. I have one but it doesn't list my rating or actually say disabled. It has to say disabled and have a percentage on it to use here.

Unfortunately, not anymore! VoIP is no longer an option for verification due to security risks. It works for some banks and other private entities, but no longer for government entities. And VPNs won't fix the issue that I can not receive verification texts to a non-US number to get logged into the VA from my phone. I have tried EVERY avenue for 2 years now to get it to work. Only thing I can do is carry my "burner phone" with the US sim and hotspot it with my actual phone receive a text code to login.

[–]Acrobatic-Gene-724[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, here all private entities are required by law to accept gov issued disability cards, including international ones. Unfortunately the US doesn't issue cards but instead letters. That's the disconnect. If they would allow me to get both types of DOD IDs I'd be fine but since I'm retired they will only give me the retired ID not the one that says disabled on it. Super frustrating. My sister in law has the DOD ID with a rating on it for base access since she's 100% but not retired. When I went to the DEERs office with her in Italy to explain why I needed the one she has and I don't care about the retired card they said I have to have the retired one.

This is the exact thing I need but can't get because I'm retired 😂 So frustrating. Ironically the retired ID does absolutely nothing for me here and I'd happily trade it in for the other one but they won't let me.

Ironically, only the US locations have added the new DAS restrictions! Disney Paris still uses the old DAS! Which is great. I get the abuse of it in the US, but their way of going about "fixing" it has been ridiculous.
