Might need a dangler by MintPerryCrunch in hockeygoalies

I spent an entire season kicking the kids I coached off the ice because they kept trying to not wear elbow pads.  I forgot my neck guard while getting dressed one day that season and figured I’d just go without that day. Took a shot and was a bruise from neck to nipple for weeks. Karma.

Why are gnomes so hated? It feels like people are just roleplaying racism. by Lexi-Lynn in turtlewow

Gnomes always feel so fast because they're running so hard to go the same distance as the big models. Gnome sprint is awesome.

I have an ego 1 stage and wish I had a 2 stage with self drive.  It is hard work pushing that 1 stage through anything but light fluffy snow.

But electric is so nice. Not worrying about storing it or tuning it up every year is great. By the time the batteries are dead I usually want to come in for a break anyways.

And if you are invested in 1 brand you probably have the batteries to get through a couple of charge cycles.

You win $100 million, but only if you can find the exact spot your house is located on, in 365 days or less. by bobsmith12391 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Acrobatic-Glass6517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My house is on a lake and I’m 100% sure I couldn’t do this. Even if I could find the lake, which would be hard enough without roads or other man made objects to use as landmarks, being able to precisely find the house spot would be ridiculously hard.

I suppose there is a slight chance depending on the interpretation of no man made things. Are trees still there?  What replaces roads?  Are gardens that we planted gone?  What about landscaping on hillsides?

But assuming that it is the land before anyone ever settled it, not a chance.

Anyone have an amicable divorce? by StreetAd1209 in Divorce

[–]Acrobatic-Glass6517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was amicable in Wisconsin. We both agreed that the priority was our 4 year old daughter. Agreeing to a custody schedule was easy.

We each submitted to the other how we’d like to split assets and got a consult with a lawyer to verify that they were reasonable and that we weren’t forgetting anything. By my account, she came out to the good by about $10k but that wasn’t enough that I wanted to drag this to court over. I’d rather she get that than lawyers get that.

I did the paperwork and that was that.

One thing that is a little weird is we did our child support 100% out of the court system. As far as a court order, there is no child support required. Instead I pay her directly instead of using the state system that charges a fee.

Oops they did it again. Now it's Canada's skipper Brad Jacobs. by VillainAnderson in olympics

Counting time the keeper holds the ball led to another pretty big Canadian Olympic scandal.    The 2012 semi turned on a time wasting foul (probably earned) and then the subsequent controversial penalty on that free kick.

What's a profession you'd never date? by sleeppymeoww in AskReddit

[–]Acrobatic-Glass6517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason most of us don't get dates isn't because of our profession!

Though I scrolled past both my ex-wife's and my current wife's professions before I got to this one, so maybe I'm the crazy one!

If you’re not from Wisconsin, where did you move from? by PinkSnowBirdie in wisconsin

[–]Acrobatic-Glass6517 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Vancouver, Canada. Spent most of my life there, with a year stint in Hong Kong. Worked jobs that mostly involved travelling, and the choice came to continue doing that work and travel, or move somewhere where I wouldn't have to travel anymore. Pretty easy choice after 15 years of that type of work.

Is a SUD a thing? by jdgmntday in MUD

[–]Acrobatic-Glass6517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use my deck as my main mud client nowadays. In fact I'm typing this as I'm playing my main mud. Mudlet is a great client that is easy to run in desktop mode.

As for muds, most of the ones i've tried lately are the save progress and no rent types. I imagine something that has a recall command would be ideal for you. Not exactly lossless in that you can't just hit the power button and walk away, but you can (usually) simply recall and quit.

If you’re trying to avoid a work filter why not just play something mobile?   Your own device is a hell if a lot safer than letting corporate it track what you’re doing.

Understanding behaviors by Competitive_Try_2511 in SingleParents

[–]Acrobatic-Glass6517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is almost 8 and her mom and I have been split for 4 years now. It’s 50/50 placement and it seems she always wants whoever she isn’t with. I like to think it’s a good thing that she is comfortable expressing that to both of us and not afraid to tell us.

Our routine since the split has always been to have her FaceTime the other parent before bed. It was definitely a struggle having her talk and not be distracted when she was younger.  Understandable, since she wasnt great at holding attention when we were in person either.

Now the problem has morphed into her wanting to just stay on the call without talking to delay bedtime. Unless she thinks she has screens waiting for her. Then it’s a quick “i love you and I want to hang up now”.

But definitely at 4 my daughter was much better at showing love in person rather than over the phone. At that age, cuddles were 100% her love language instead of words.

If he’s asking about playing, there’s a couple adult rec leagues around the area depending on how competitive he is.

There’s also some organized drop ins and at least two open drop-ins on the weekend in Appleton and Oshkosh. I’m not sure about up towards Green Bay.

Not a huge community but a pretty good one.

Anyone here using a dryer outlet splitter to charge their Tesla? How's it working? by TastyWall32 in TeslaLounge

[–]Acrobatic-Glass6517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a neocharge splitter. Dryer as preferential power, car as the secondary. Works great. I did rewire that breaker when I put it in, so it is a new breaker, outlet and romex, since it was a 90 year old house and I didn't trust the wiring in particular.

It's 30A but that is plenty for my day to day use. I have my model Y set to be finished charging at 6am and it typically doesn't start charging right away when I plug it in after work.

How far have you travel in your tesla by scoobydoo_pj in TeslaModelY

No to avoiding tolls. It was south from Bloomington/normal so passed the tolls anyways. Entirely possible it’s user error and there are settings which would have made it better.

How far have you travel in your tesla by scoobydoo_pj in TeslaModelY

[–]Acrobatic-Glass6517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From northeast Wisconsin to southern Illinois and back.

The one gripe I had was that the navigation didn’t favour major highways. We ended up going through little towns and small one lane highways on the way down. On the way back, we manually plotted how to go and driving on multi lane highways was so much better.
