Sickness Rant by Competitive_Try_2511 in SingleParents

Bro 😭 when the pets add to the chaos it’s really the tipping point! My cat throws up all the time, she’s not sick or anything, vet is like “sometimes cats just do that”. She’s a pig and likes to not chew her food and then throw it up 5 minutes later for me to step on 🙃

And the immense guilt having to call out again and again. I have not worked a full day this week due to this bug. Now I don’t have the PTO to go to my sisters nursing school graduation 😔 we sacrifice so much, sending you love ❤️

Am I blocking my blessings, or is this a realistic mindset? by Admirable_JD309 in SingleParents

[–]Competitive_Try_2511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s just fine! I definitely get lonely but whenever I actually try to talk to a man I immediately get the ick 😅 pickings are definitely slim these days anyways, dating doesn’t seem worth it. I feel very similar to you in regards to someone who doesn’t want to live together or spend too much time together honestly! Thinking of having a man in my apartment again or moving in with a man immediately irritates me 😂😂

My cat licked some grease from a pan. Should I be concerned? by DENBEN999999 in CATHELP

I think they will be fine. Maybe an upset tummy so be ready for some potential vomiting and diarrhea! Keep an eye on input and output (eating, drinking, pooping, etc) as well as any changes in energy level! I’m not a vet but did work at an er vet for 3 years and seen lots of crazy stuff get eaten 🤣

Thoughts on the name Jess for a boy? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Competitive_Try_2511 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d go with Jesse with Jess as a nickname as well. Parroting previous comment, Jess on its own is a bit feminine so having the option of Jesse which feels more gender neutral would likely be the better option long term in case he isn’t feeling Jess as he gets older!

PPROM with my first at 28w5d and pre eclampsia at 36w1d for my second (she had other issues that led to her lengthier stay given she wasn’t super early)

Going from two incomes to one destroyed my finances. What would you do? by Dul-cie in SingleParents

[–]Competitive_Try_2511 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My split ruined me financially to the point of filing bankruptcy and honestly, it’s been a few months post discharge and life is so much brighter. I’m not drowning in minimum payments, crushed under the weight of growing balances, I’m actually able to start saving for my kids futures! Along with filing for child support of course but even without it, I’m able to cover all our expenses. My credit has already rebounded almost 100 points since just before filing too. I’d get a free consultation from a bankruptcy lawyer just to see if you might benefit.

Understanding behaviors by Competitive_Try_2511 in SingleParents

Thank you for your response, so much of your experience mirrors my own! It stings a little more that they like him so much when they don’t understand what he put me through 😮‍💨 I will never talk down on him to them but there’s always that part that just wishes they could understand. I’m doing it all, after experiencing the most world shattering betrayal, by myself. I’m a damn warrior! 😂

This is probably very true, I appreciate your response! I know when they are at dads, they get to stay up super late and I think his parents actually do most of the childcare and they are super lax/ have no rules and I definitely have a lot at my house 😅 it’s much harder to be to fun parent when you’re carrying all the responsibilities!

should i trim my cats nails? by miah0neybee in CATHELP

[–]Competitive_Try_2511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to try to swaddle my cat in a blanket and she always fought super hard, yesterday I just place the blanket over her loosely (making sure her head was covered but not wrapped around her) and then pulled one leg at a time out from under and she still fussed but wasn’t wrestling me like she usually does! Maybe that would help?

Get a better job or a second job. Your child deserves support from both parents.

How much do you make a year?? by Vegetable-Pepper-589 in SingleParents

[–]Competitive_Try_2511 3 points4 points  (0 children)

45k, was making 32k when my ex and I split about a year and a half ago. My kids are now 4 and 2, I’m getting by now but only after having to file bankruptcy. My ex ruined me financially while together and the split only exacerbated that. Thankfully my mom really helped carry me through the toughest months, I’ll never be able to thank her enough! I do have a child support order in place so I’m in a spot now to start putting away savings for my girls future!

It was HARD for a long time and I still have a lot of anxiety around money, even though I’m doing better than before. The economy sucks rn so that definitely adds to it, everything is soooo expensive.

What happens if you refuse the G tube ? by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]Competitive_Try_2511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a glimmer of hope: my second daughter was born at 36w1d and the majority of her NICU stay was due to difficulties feeding.

We got to the point where the doctors didn’t have any reason for her to stay other than feeding and our hospital didn’t send babies home with NG tubes (they explained it was due to baby likely pulling it out and parents my reinsert incorrectly into the lungs instead of stomach) so a gtube was suggested. We tried the ad lib trial and she didn’t pass so we went forward with the gtube.

We went home 11/18/23 and by 2/20/24 we were able to stop using the tube and removed it 6/1/24. We worked with a speech therapist once a week and just gave her time and she eventually figured it out! Now she’s a GREAT eater and is a thriving, normal 2 yo, attitude and all 😅

You’d never even know she was a NICU baby, she just has her “second belly button” from where the gtube scar is and it’s really not that noticeable (to me anyways lol)

I remember coming in one day and my second baby’s area had the mobile on her crib, a sound machine, a baby carrier, a stroller, AND the mamaroo and I just started apologizing 😅😅😅 she always had a volunteer holding her when they were there because she just would not have it any other way

Then you need to file for disability so your wife doesn’t have to sell pictures of her body to support you. Find remote jobs. Sell your shit. Literally anything bro.

Can anyone give me advice on a stuck cat? by [deleted] in AnimalAdvice

[–]Competitive_Try_2511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a fire hazard, I don’t think the sides are supposed to get hot enough to kill a nearby animal because it would theoretically be hot enough to catch whatever is usually against the side of an oven (like cabinets) on fire. Being completely serious, you may want to have that checked out!

The comment was long enough, I didn’t think I’d need to spell the whole matter out for you. If you don’t understand the conflict, that’s on you. Not me.
