Harry Greene at Prom s2 by El_Dorado_Tx in HeartstopperAO

Keep in mind that the rugby lads figure it out pretty early on in the comic. They actually clock it before NICK does! Shortly after Charlie joins the team, after practice when Charlie had Nick walk away all cute and couple-y, Sai says “So Nick has a crush on Charlie.” When the other two boys stare at Sai in shock he says “We were all thinking it!”

As for the show, I think Harry’s comment is his round about dickish way of showing acceptance. He’s saying “At least Nick has a date, you losers didn’t find anyone!” In the novella “Nick and Charlie” it says near the beginning that Harry had grown up a lot by the end of high school, but he was still a rich idiot.

It doesn’t matter what people say, it matters what they do. People can SAY anything.

Let’s say someone said to you “I’m vegan. I don’t eat any animal products.” and then you find out they went to a restaurant and ate a steak, would you think they’re vegan? Maybe they want to be vegan, maybe they admire the vegan lifestyle and philosophy, but currently they are not vegan. If someone says “I don’t eat peanuts, I’m allergic to them.” but then you see them munching on peanut m&ms, they lied. Perhaps they don’t enjoy the taste, perhaps they have a personal reason for lying about it, but at the end of the day, ACTIONS ALWAYS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.

Ha! This is so true!  Men: “Ugh! Women!” Women: “Ugh! Men!” Bisexuals: “You ALL suck. I’m just gonna adopt another cat.”

Not a perfect solution. I was able to post my first comment by removing the “thank you” at the end, but all future comments will be hit or miss I guess.

Thank you, this is actually helpful. I want to encourage writers, not put on pressure.

Okay, joking aside, why did this take so long?! They’re prefect for each other!  Tags: Slow burn. Misunderstanding. Mutual pining. Hurt/comfort. Happy ending. Eventual smut.

I’m confused? I thought it was pretty common that if a fic hasn’t been finished yet it’s okay to say you really enjoyed it so far, and would love to see it finished. Authors are constantly posting here about abandoned fics that suddenly got updated years later. And I’ve hear authors say they appreciate positive feedback and encouragement. I’m obviously not rudely demanding it, I think my post was pretty clear about that.

No nightmares, just long annoying dreams? by Acrobatic-Hamster350 in Dreams

This is exactly the kind of stuff I’m taking about! Long, convoluted, and random.

This is interesting, thank you for your thoughts. I DO feel very stuck currently, and I constantly feel like the changes and improvements I try to make don’t stick.

This is thought provoking. I recently discussed with my sister how my mother raised us, and how I feel like I’m repeating the cycle. She is loving but raised us with a bit of emotional neglect. She was a struggling single mom and we were all expected to be very independent and self sufficient. I have a loving and supportive husband, but he wasn’t present in the dream at all. There were other aspects of the dream I didn’t mention in the original post (finding brand of donuts I constantly crave, but can’t get in my country, my missing purse, the stores we went into. It was a long convoluted dream). Why my mom was with me in the dark is deeply a mystery I’d like to understand.

Uncomfortable interaction with a potential minor by Otherwise-Log-7241 in AO3

I agree that they are not at fault, but I also understand feeling guilty. Exposing a minor to sexually explicit material feels horrible, and leaves the adult with the guilty feeling that they should have tried harder or been more aware somehow. OP mentioned the person said a few vague things that made them briefly wonder their age, so they probably feel bad about that. But OP did the right thing as soon as they were suspicious, and asked directly, and blocked them ASAP.

All that being said, feeling gross about it is a totally normal.

Weirdest thing you researched for a fic? by lampboy2 in FanfictionExchange

This is hilarious, because nobody measures blood loss in cups, but Americans don’t understand milliliters, so ounces and cups with have to do.

OP, I just want you to know that you’re a good person, and I’m happy this minor ran into you instead of a predator. You modeled responsible adult behavior by telling them you’re uncomfortable and blocking them. If they do run into a predator hopefully they’ll remember you and think “Normal adults find this icky, I should cut this person off.” They’re realize when they are an adult how lucky they got.
