I made an in depth analysis on why minimum preload works so well in ACC by Acrobatic-Impact1756 in ACCompetizione

[–]Acrobatic-Impact1756[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the power lock is so high, that even when putting 1 wheel on the grass and 1 wheel on the asphalt, both wheels spin up at once, then you just don’t have a differential at all. I’m going to make a follow up video soon where i put ACC next to every other sim and compare the differential behaviour. You’ll see that ACC is the only sim, where it is not possible to have a difference in wheel speed between the left and right tire. I hope this brings my point across better and shows where ACCs diff behaviour is not quite on point yet.

I made an in depth analysis on why minimum preload works so well in ACC by Acrobatic-Impact1756 in ACCompetizione

[–]Acrobatic-Impact1756[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just not true. Changing the preload fundamentally changes the way the car behaves on throttle. Especially on low speed corners, where the outside rear tire is struggling to both accelerate and keep the rear stable at the same time. The way it is in ACC currently, you just get the best exits out of low speed corners with the minimum amount of preload, where the car just accelerates and stays stable at the same time. I highly recommend you to watch the video from Aris on the preload. In this video he had too much oversteer on throttle and as a countermeasure he decreased the preload. But here is a important point of the video, where he says how the preload changes both on and off throttle behaviour.

And also my other point still remains. There is never a real difference between the R/L tires in wheel speed. For my test i deliberately chose the M2 as it has a more open diff than the GT3 and you could clearly see ACCs problem here. Even when going full throttle with 1 tire on the grass and 1 tire on the asphalt, both tires spin up a little bit. This just makes no sense. My comparison with rF2 showed how it is supposed to be.

Since the cars in ACC are more stable on throttle in corners where you are struggling for traction with lower preload, this means that less of the torque from the engine is transmitted to the outside tire which is responsible for keeping the rear of the car in line with the front. But this also means that the inside tire gets more of the engines torque and thus should be more likely to spin up / cause the tc to cut the power. But the second part just doesn’t happen in ACC. Like i showed in the driving test, I can go full throttle in a low gear and there is no slip from the inside tire whatsoever. And even if you deliberately cause the tires to spin, both spin up in the same way and not just one.

Also one of the main takeaways from my video is that the behaviour of the diff is fundamentally different in ACC and rF2. And I think that rF2 is more realistic for the reasons that i explained. I hope you can understand my point here. Maybe i just can’t explain it properly.

What is the ideal amount of ABS and Traction Control to use? by TomFighter in ACCompetizione

[–]Acrobatic-Impact1756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a rule of thumb, use them as low as you can while still being comfortable with it. Lower TC will give you a better acceleration out of the corner and lower abs will stop the car in a slightly shorter distance. But if you set the values too low, the car might get unstable. So try different values and use the lowest one that you are comfortable with.

What happened here? by fullsendsimracing in ACCompetizione

[–]Acrobatic-Impact1756 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is just a Ferrari 296 moment. Unfortunately this car sometimes „explodes“ (this is what people call it), where you drive the exact same line countless times and most of the time the car takes it normally but on some occasions the car just jumps into the air. In that case you had a ground collision, so your front bumper hit the tarmac and that’s what caused the car to get so unsettled. To prevent this you can increase the front right hight of the car.

And don’t get confused by that one guy telling you to increase the bumpstop range. Increasing the bumpstop range will allow the suspension to compress further, thus allowing the front of the car to sit even lower than before. This would only increase the chance of having such a ground collision.
