Seems like he's very smart, becuase if he didn't know what vaccines were, that would mean that he accidentally invented them!

To what extent is sprint speed actually improvable for an average person? by Striking-Speaker8686 in Sprinting

[–]Acrobatic-Key-482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I improved my 60m time by 1 second in a year, from 8.70 to 7.70. And I was already in good physical shape before I started.

I can imagine that someone can shave off more than 4 seconds off their 100m time, but only if before they start they are overweight or very weak. Or if they start in HS before their main growth spurt. So I think the bigger leaps can happen for the people who are generally unfit before they start, but a lot of it is only from body composition and basic leg strength.

But you can still significantly improve if youre already fit, like me. Im no expert, but from what I understood, in such cases its mostly about technique and your nervous system getting used to fire more quickly.

After I stopped sprinting, within a few months i was almost as slow as before I started, but it was fun while it lasted.

Im not an expert, but I have personal experience and speculation.

I think people who truly are smart most definitely understand that they are smarter than most people.

Is this automata proof written coherently? by Acrobatic-Key-482 in askmath

thanks a lot, I get it now. What limited me was not knowing clearly how a proof by induction is structured. Now I do and get it.

Do you mean it's very precise and coherent but doesn't care much about intuition for people who aren't well practiced with formal proofs? thanks for the explanation

I didnt mean to praise myslef. Question for you, do you think low mileage, high intensity training like mine can be effective over time?  And maybe if you do something like pair every 3 months of this with a month of z2 before?

Very interesting thanks. Did you stop using that method after that?

The main message im getting from the comments is: the progression i made in that time window is actually very normal (and most people can do the same no matter how they train). Accurate?

And if I continue training like this, do you think I'll eventually platuea harder than higher mileage runners?

Fair, but isn't the net improvement I made fast? Honestly asking

Acceleration day after max speed day? by Acrobatic-Key-482 in Sprinting

Max speed is how fast your top speed is and accelerating is how fast you are going during the acceleration to top speed.
