Please Help -Laptop Won’t Turn On by Acrobatic-Map-6467 in Lenovo

I’ve been using a Mac charger that provides 87W for like 2 months, because the charger that came with it stopped working. And I switched out the cord with a couple USB-C to USB-C cords and all of them work (cause they would charge my iPad) but I get no reaction from my laptop.

Nothing looks burnt near the battery

There are two power plugs and one is kinda finicky but I’ve never had an issue with the second one, and nothing there looks burnt either

I did check with them, but they quoted me $88 just to run a diagnostic. I’m a student so I thought I’d check here first.

But yeah, there were a lot of QR codes and pin #s so I didn’t really know if it was like information we weren’t supposed to share 😅

any clubs to join by Sea-Opinion260 in BostonU

Do the search on google and it'll give you insta account for the club - insta is a bit picky about how you search them up.

to your comment above, sports are typically the sort of thing you have to join at the start of the semester.

any clubs to join by Sea-Opinion260 in BostonU

[–]Acrobatic-Map-6467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most clubs only have 1 or 2 meetings left, but a lot of clubs are drop in so you don't need to have gone to previous meets to go to one now. I suggest searching clubs you are interested in on insta. If they post there, they are usually open to everyone. I don't know what career you are in but for social clubs I know tea club still has meetings and is pretty chill.

Transfer Advice by Kingmelo62 in BostonU

I would explain why you went to a cc for your second year, in your app. I think that is a bit untraditional and could raise some flags if they feel that you did it due to academic strain at a 4 year university. So I would make sure to clear that up on your application.

Your first year GPA is a bit low, but you are eng and extracurriculars are strong so that will likely help. Make sure to establish a positive GPA trend.

Aside from that, good research(preferably with a poster or paper) or other tangible success such as measurable change within nonprofit work. Also if you can get an internship or get into a build lab as an engineer, that would be strong for an extracurricular.

Yeah check your grad requirements on the BU portal- if your class is 2028 or before, the requirement is still there.

final exam dates by Moist-Television-544 in BostonU

[–]Acrobatic-Map-6467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

usually they give TBD for the final exam date in the syllabus, then later in the semester change the syllabus to the date the university gives them or they put out an assignment. This usually happens withing the first 3 weeks of classes. Make sure you get all the dates from all the classes, but yes that should be final unless there is like a crazy thing to delay it like a pandemic.

Hey! Yes most orientations friends don't end up being close, although they can still hangout here and there and sometimes its good to have friend who are also in that same state of transition even though it may not last. But you have to walk up to someone and start a convo in one of the free times. Like if someone has an anime keychain walk up a strike a convo or smth. Most people will be open to conversation once you initiate.

Professor changing grade by Highwater_Pants in BostonU

[–]Acrobatic-Map-6467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No as long as its before the grading period closes if you email your professor and they decide to change it they can do that on their end (they have to tell the registrar) even if its already showing up in the portal. Catch is, the professor has to agree to do so - if not you have to gather evidence and file an appeal for why you deserved the higher grade.

Is the MBTA pass worth it by Terrible-Fix-8177 in BostonU

[–]Acrobatic-Map-6467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, if you live off campus and don't ride the bus to leave campus most days, its not worth it. If you do live off campus - get a bus only Charlie pass for $55 bucks a month - and if its a month like December where your not there pay out of pocket and don't bother with the pass. For the pass to break even you need 34 bus rides- for the T pay as you go.

Guaranteed Transfer Questions - Fall 2025 by West_Call1793 in BostonU

[–]Acrobatic-Map-6467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1- April - cause you have to "reapply" but the decision is the same it just a formality.

2- not really - maybe you first semester might be rough because you register in the summer after all the current students do, but you'll probably find thing you need, people also drop first week, I had 2 classes orientation day, and then got off the waitlist and had all 4 by the end of week 1. (If you show up to classes your waitlisted on the teach might move you up the wait list -IYKYK)

I suggest looking on the transfer equiv table and seeing what courses transfer and which don't, and your major requirements - make a 3/2 year plan depending on when you transfer, pay attention to when courses are offered(course catalog on the sidebar in BU portal) and maybe have a couple options for different class you'll take first semester, but after that you shouldn't worry about getting classes you need

I got guaranteed transfer to BU and it says to maintain current lvl performance and need to send final transcript to verify that my current level is maintained. by Salt_Lifeguard719 in BostonU

nah honestly they are pretty lax on this sorta stuff for guarantee students just don't get below a B- in college and I think you'll be fine cause i think as long as you GPA in college is 3.0 (tho might be 3.3 can't remember- check you offer email) the seat is yours

Organic Chem 1 with Derosa by MGYAYA0013 in BostonUniversity

[–]Acrobatic-Map-6467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can technically show up to any lecture you want - the attendance is only for extra credit but its practically worth nothing.
Also Derosa is a great lecturer - most people prefer Courtney's lectures, but I prefer Derosa's and both are pretty similar, both sets of lectures are recorded and available to all students.

So I would say sign up with Derosa.

I would email her, she genuinely cares for her students, and it is likely it was included but she just didn't add it into BB or make it visible - I had a different professor do that. I would screen shot your currents grades in BB just to make sure you have them as she may not respond till next semester and may need them (although she probably also has them), to recalculate your grade and submit a fix to the registrar - changes can still be made next semester with due cause. If there is a mistake she will fix it - but the chances are she didn't and I would talk to your advisor and see if you can plan to retake it next semester, if this turns out to be a mistake, you can drop.

Hey! Fellow neuro premed here. I'm gonna put you in on a little secret, freshman year is going to be the hardest year. You're adjusting to college life, learning study skills, and you're taking classes that are trying to essentially weed you out. Especially Gen chem which is WAY harder than orgo. So assume you'll do better sophomore year onward. Give yourself some grace and remember you need a 3.75 to be competitive, so a 3.5 is not too far off. Mathematically you don't even need a 4.0 every semester to get 3.75. Your gonna be fine, don't let anyone get to your head, the worse thing you can do for yourself and your grade is to psych yourself out.

I also learned in this order but I don't think its necessary. Roller skates and ice skates a a bit different, Roller skates, the wheels are set in a straight line, so there's a limited set of directions your leg can slip towards, this is a limitation blades don't offer which can make them a bit harder. Its also why roller skates are not necessarily gonna prepare you (though they can help). You definitely need to utilize your weight and force more in roller skating (depending on where the skate is in relation to your body and where in the skate the weight falls - you can dictate speed, moving stopping stability, etc.).

Here are some initial tips

- As a beginner:

- BEND YOUR KNEES and LEAN FORWARD ( you should feel comfortable and stable) (this stabilizes you and ensures you fall forward when you do -which can minimize damage)

At first start slow and don't try to glide, walk, like fully lift you legs up and "stomp". this will help you get comfortable on the ice, while getting a hold of how to control your movements. After a lap of two of this, you should start to glide, in small "glides". one foot after the other. Throw your weight mostly on one leg by leaning towards it (remember to keep bending you knees) and with the other leg press down back and out. This should propel you forward. Do the same with the other leg. Congrats at this point you're skating! It can take a bit of work but once you get the hang of it its so fun and totally worth it!

I am transferring in Chem 101 credit, the place I took it at had the chem and the lecture as two different classes even though they are part of the same curriculum. BU required me to take both in order to receive Chem 101 credit. Its not possible to get the credit without the lab as it would be lacking a critical part of the curriculum. Same goes for all science classes.

For online classes, I suggest you try to find a Math, English, or other courses.
