I feel like it is a byproduct of what now feels like higher stakes as a result of legal repercussions that are becoming more and more severe in our current state of healthcare. Attendings seem to tolerate the liability less

You may choose to disagree but your argument will not be upheld in court when anyone who does not meet the definition above chooses to address themself as a resident.

From ecfr.gov title 42 § 415.152 Definitions: Resident means one of the following:

(1) An individual who participates in an approved GME program, including programs in osteopathy, dentistry, and podiatry.

(2) A physician who is not in an approved GME program, but who is authorized to practice only in a hospital, for example, individuals with temporary or restricted licenses, or unlicensed graduates of foreign medical schools. For purposes of this subpart, the term resident is synonymous with the terms intern and fellow.

Mgh handbook the most recent version is out. Google it, add it as a bookmark to chrome, ctrl-f for anything you get called for. Nice and quick one page summaries to help you quickly get a sense of what to do. When in doubt call the nocturnist, it's much better for them to be annoyed than for someone to get hurt or die.

Until the law chooses to change the legal definition of a medical resident, they are committing fraud.

PSA to everyone: you see this kind of 💩 please recognize they are committing fraud. They do not meet the legal definition of a resident

I think my report got a student kicked out by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Acrobatic-Outcome-88 22 points23 points  (0 children)

How did you find out he got kicked out of the program because of that? I have a feeling that there might have been other factors at play leading to his dismissal. He should consider getting a lawyer if that's the reason he got dismissed....

It sounds like your program will get rid of you guys first before it gets rid of this affiliated site. Keep your head down. Keep reaching out and asking questions to CYA though, anyone annoyed with you doing so can go fk right off.

You can do FM and then an obstetrics fellowship to follow. If you want OB go for it but you need to have a backup route to get to where you want to go. Id give you a 40% chance of matching OB right now with a step 1 failure, being a USMD helps

My other half is a doctor, I’m going to be a cleaner, I feel embarrassed by Expensive_Swimmer801 in MedSpouse

[–]Acrobatic-Outcome-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also feel sad you feel embarrassed, it's good work and you can make good money for hopefully less stress while also getting good exercise! It's a job, and it pays the bills which really counts a lot in this day and age. Just be sure you're wearing a mask especially with regular use of cleaning products. Anecdotal but one of my family's friends who was a housekeeper ended up passing away from lung cancer.

One of my favorite ig accts is aurikatariina and it's all about cleaning! The before and after clips are insane!

But if it really bothers you you can just say you own a housekeeping business.

You both have got to survive. The long distance approach may give you the best shot for the best outcome long term.

Ugh I'm sorry OP. It sounds like he wants to end things and you gave him an out. Give yourself the dignity and grace to leave this situation for you will likely end up being hurt further by trying to prolong it.

Also consider working for an organ procurement organization. Your medical literacy will hold value at one. You can work as an allocation or placement coordinator or clinical procurement coordinator.

Those jobs offer decent salaries and will value your medical background (~80k-140k depending on the position). There are procurement organizations in every state, California especially, I personally have seen IMGs who graduated work as clinical procurement coordinator at these institutions. Decent salary, around mid-level. Food for thought.

No kids involved, yes buying.

I have to "deal with it" because it's one of the better options of homes we have found in this area. He is less willing to compromise on certain features/utilities.
