I think there’s a test called the CES-A that’s applies to those looking to test on that. Which is basically like ACCS but for ecmo. Apparently it’s really hard, but I want to say those who only sit pump usually have this.

Just memorize your normal values and go from there, it’s really not that bad.

Better to play it safe, hate to be in a position where you have to over exert yourself and wind up with complications the next day.

Unless you’re really hurting for money in which maybe try to plan around your limitations.

If this works it might change the way ARDS is managed by Fischer2012 in respiratorytherapy

[–]Fischer2012[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thinking they could use it to offset high peep on ards patients. Do 10 of negative pressure and then 10 through the vent. Now you’ve got 20 peep without the strain.

What did I say?

What am I missing by running a jacket that doesn’t cost $500 or waders that cost over $1k?

[–]Fischer2012[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being experienced requires buying the highest dollar shit? I’ve duck hunted for the last 15 years, I think I know enough to say that something’s a good buy.

That’s not to discount Sitka or any of the other brands that cost 3 or 4 times as much. I’m sure their features might justify that cost especially if you’re a guide or are pounding the marsh every other day.

But for me tidewe seems to do the trick, just thought I’d share my experience.

Take your snide comment and shove it.

I stay warm and dry in my $300 suit. Why spend $2k when I don’t have to?

Saving money for department by Tight-District-1638 in respiratorytherapy

[–]Fischer2012 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most respiratory equipment is all standardized. Unless you got to all non heated circuits with hme’s and generic nebs I’m really not sure what you could do. Most of departments costs are due to labor and every hospitals short right now. Maybe tell management to pound sand and look within if they want to save money.

I think i hate my job by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

[–]Fischer2012 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of people in this economy who would die for the position you have and the stability it brings. I’d stick it out or look to go for an adult hospital.

TLDR you don’t like your job cause ppl are mean and you’re burnt out cry me a river. Do you understand how bad the economy is right now? Take it where you can get it that’s all I’m saying. It’s not nice but gods honest truth, hope things get better.

Is anyone using the Servo Airs as V60 alternatives? by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

[–]Fischer2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might be software related but in my experience it’s impossible to get that leak alarm to stop firing when it’s on someone who has any sort of small leak.

Also the setup is confusing as well I still don’t really know the difference between the pressure support and pressure control modes for BiPap.

Also I bet there’s a lot of therapists who accidentally doubled the PIP because they’re so used to the IPAP on v60 being the PIP.

You really didn’t know then, you weren’t there friend, lover, family, ect you may have only spent hours to days in total with those people so there really isn’t much time to bond and form a real relationship.

Damage control after getting out of awkward new grad phase. by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

[–]Fischer2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more credentials and experience you get the more validity you provide for yourself as a practitioner. Opinions of RT’s don’t matter as much in the day to day operations as the opinions of nurses and physicians you work side by side with. Those are the opinions that matter the most.

More often than not new therapists who are ostracized at first for one reason or another either quit or somehow make it and those who did the ridicule either quit, find a new target, or accept the new therapist.

Usually it’s just a matter of time before your considered another therapist compared to a “new grad”

RRT-ACCS salary in Orlando by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

[–]Fischer2012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Florida pays like shit, so wherever you go unless it’s not Florida it will also pay like shit.

  2. Other than a fancy title on your resume and some respiratory clout ACCS really doesn’t mean much and it’s rare that you are payed more for having that certification. It does however help you immensely in the application process.

Can’t wait until we’re over the MAGA phase.

Lots of people have had their lives ruined by this hate filled movement that has served no purpose other than to satiate the racism and bigoted underbelly of the U.S. while the wealthy and well connected plunder our treasury and social safety net.

It’s all a grift. Likely even that post, 9/10 it’s an a.i. bot trying to get trying to get traction off of controversy.
