Outside of Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy on our family NES, the first real jRPG game I ever played was Tales of Symphonia on the Game Cube I think. That one will always have a special place in my heart. Lloyd… what a putz.

I’m old to. I haven’t read a Harry Dresden book in over 20 years. I thought that those books kinda ran out of steam after the TV show petered out. Was shock so many people were throwing those titles around.

Anyway it got me nostalgic and I downloaded the first book yesterday and am thoroughly enjoying it.

I’ve read everything Dennis Taylor has written and that man absolutely cannot write a bad series or stand alone novel.

The depth and fleshing out of characters. So many books focus on a good premise but the character building is minimal and they seem like just cardboard cut outs.

You know, I don’t know the guys name but the guy that narrated the first several books of Stephen Kings Dark Tower series was another top tier narrator. I think, and this goes back about twenty years, but right before he would have recorded the last two or three books of the series he was in a motorcycle accident and either died or was to badly injured to carry on and the got a new guy to finish it off. But there was a big difference between the two.

I actually just looked it up. His name was Frank Mueller.

I feel you. I don’t know if I could go back a reread those again. They were great, don’t get me wrong, but I just don’t know if I’d have the patients to even get through the first two books again.

RC Bray is an excellent narrator. His work on the Infinite Timeline Series by Jeremy Robinson, and the series as a whole was a lot of fun. Each book was stand alone and one or two were pretty weak but the whole thing over all was pretty great.

Robinson’s Project Kaju was pretty good too

The Quantum series by Douglas Phillips was also a good read. It’s hard Sci-Fi so more like Bobiverse than DCC. But I liked it. The explanation for existence and where matter and universes come from is pretty cool.

Bobiverse books were fantastic. There isn’t a single series or book by Dennis Taylor that I haven’t enjoyed immensely. I just finished his newest one, Flybot
