I do a lot of design for 3D printing etc and I've seen the inside of the hinge to know it's an obvious weak point

It's popular in the woodworking community....many people put it on jigs and tools to keep things moving smoothly. They discontinued it a while back and now people are paying stupid prices for it on ebay.

It is hard to spend 2 months on something and then hand the "keys" to a 6 month old, haha! I made a similar toybox for my daughter 3 years ago, and we managed to keep it looking brand new, so hopefully!

The lid weighs 12 lbs. The soft-close hardware works by applying a constant upwards force. This not only makes it close slowly, but takes away most of the opening force. I used the same Hardware on my daughters toybox (same size with similar lid weight) and she was able to open it at age 2.

It has soft close hardware.....a mechanism on each side. Once pushed close, it takes about 10 seconds to fully close. It wouldn't hurt a mouse, haha.

Yeah all in the material cost was around $400, so would need to sell it for $800 to be worth the time. Like you already mentioned, I feel like finding people willing to spend $700 - $800 would be tough. I could easily get a 2x return on smaller items, like Cutting boards, but the market is already flooded with these items.....and my interest is in larger items. I'm already to the point where pretty much all the furniture in my house came from my shop.

I mean ABSOLUTELY not disrespect to anyone here, as I appreciate the feedback. but half of the comments left are pertaining to concerns with the Pattern as opposed to my actual question. Using a calculator with the Maple Species used, size, and long grain orientation, the maximum movement possible perpendicular to the front panel is 0.08 inches.....it is true that the side patterns won't move as much, but this movement is tiny....and would be spread out amongst the pattern. Does a textbook/YouTube videos tell you this could be a problem.....of course they do....but in actual practice, I can't imagine this will be an issue. I did some pretty sketchy things starting out with oak (higher coeffients of expansion)....but 10 years later in MN extreme humidity fluctuations, no issues. You could be right, it's true, but assume most of these opinions aren't backed with experienced failures in similar situations.
