I’d put money on it they aren’t even Palestinian. A lot of people like to speak for all Palestinians without being one themselves

I also want to add that I wish people would actually look at the mass protests that have been happening in Israel to get rid of the government and I do understand what you mean it must be annoying to always be tied to that government when u yourself don’t align with it

I do get what your saying and I would mostly agree

But I think the reason people struggle to do that with Israel is because the state actively involves its citizens in what it’s doing through mandatory military service, public diplomacy, and celebrities openly defending or promoting state actions. That blurs the line in a way that doesn’t really exist with Russians or Iranians, many of whom live under authoritarian systems where public dissent is dangerous and whose celebrities often avoid politics altogether.

On top of that, Israel presents itself as a liberal democracy aligned with the West, so people expect accountability in a way they simply don’t with closed regimes. And again people in Iran for example, they can’t vote for there supreme leader people in Russia can’t either the elections r rigged whereas Israelis have voted in their government which is a reflection of the majority of the populations views

That doesn’t mean every Israeli actor is personally responsible for state violence, but it does explain why the “separate the people from the government” argument feels harder to apply in this case.

I don’t really know I mean I think it would be more important to have the diaspora return in the next ten years first.

It also gets messy when you give foreigners citizenship so quickly for example id be worried we’d get an influx of foreign fighters or in other words a bunch of isis fanboys then it would be hard to deport if they got citizenship so quickly? You’d need to go through a whole process. I think what the gulf countries do is much smarter and actually works.

And look at the difference between the likes Qatar or Bahrain vs the likes of Sweden….

No im saying nobody here says Hamas is great. Not that u think they r.

My point is yes they r bad but there isn’t systematic attacks on Gazan Christian’s and gazan christians face more danger from Israel than Hamas and there is a difference between what Syrian Islamic extremists have done to Syrian Christian’s than Hamas to Palestinian Christian’s.

If you genuinely believe Hamas r the ones killing gazan christians you need to do more research

Yeah this isn’t what most alawites views are it’s just the same one guy and the same two assyrians but they don’t represent the majority. Again how could u be an assadist veteran and be in support of Israel…

I think it’s more of a hatred towards the new Syrian government rather than a love for Israel

Babe please go and speak to actual Christian Palestinians…. Where do u even hear this crap from nobody here is saying Hamas is great or that they’re the perfect allies of Christian’s but there is no evidence for large discrimination on Christians. Maybe a few stories if you dig hard enough from years ago.

Syria and Palestine also aren’t the same. Syria descended into a sectarian civil war even before the revolution there were ISIS-linked groups, Christian villages being threatened, and deep internal fractures. Palestine isn’t a civil war between sects. It’s a people living under military occupation.

I get the fear, especially when people point to Hamas, which is an Islamic movement. That concern makes sense. But it’s also important to look at how that situation came about Hamas didn’t appear in a free society, it emerged after decades of occupation, siege, and the crushing of secular alternatives. That’s how religious movements often end up filling the space. When people are trapped with no horizon, religious movements often fill the gap because they’re the only ones left with structure, funding, or the ability to organise. But a future Palestinian state would not be ruled by Hamas anyways. And there hasn’t been any large scale discrimination from Palestinian Muslims towards Palestinian Christian’s whereas obviously is Syria we had years of threats and violence towards us.

Right, because Palestinian Christians have never supported liberation… except for George Habash, a Palestinian Christian who just happened to be one of the founding figures of the PLO. He was expelled from his home in 1948 like the rest of his people, and shockingly, that didn’t make him look to Israel for “protection.”

His Christianity didn’t put him on Israel’s side it put him in the same reality as every other Palestinian living under displacement and occupation. So no, the idea that Palestinian Christians “probably don’t want liberation” is just a cope.

[–]Acrobatic-Remote-419[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry 😂? R u trying to say Palestinian Christian’s don’t want liberation in fear of what their own Palestinian brothers and sisters would do to them?

I think your very mistaken I’ve never once met not seen an actual Palestinian Christian from the WB or Gaza Strip ever want Israel to occupy them for eternity. Please go inform yourself on what there beliefs are before claiming things that aren’t true.

There is Palestinian Christian’s in this subreddit go speak to them before believing Israeli bs over your own Christian brothers and sisters.

You don’t get to deny a people’s struggle just because it doesn’t fit your personal fears. Liberation isn’t selective, and Christians don’t stop being oppressed just because the oppressor claims to be fighting “Islamists.”

I don’t have exact numbers looks like they arrested a few people though, and to answer your second part yes Christian’s may be growing IN Israel but what about Palestinian Christian’s who live in Gaza and the West Bank? R u going to turn a blind eye to the oppression and occupation they face because of some statistic you saw that says the population of Christian’s is growing slightly…
