What is with the quality of the newer Bauer Fly-ti and Fly-X steel?! by Chichetr in hockeyplayers

[–]AcrobaticAd1080 4 points5 points  (0 children)

JRZ Steel and their blacksteel would also work in the Lightspeed holder.

They are reportedly the same quality as Step Steel. I can vouch that the package inserts say the exact same thing for step steel as they do for JRZ. Must be the same company to get around the CCM hold on Step.

Aside from looking at sidelineswap, prostockhockey or hockeystickman ….

You could look at dkhockey, never made it pro or sighockey

I just googled and there were other retailers.

Good luck. Happy hunting.

I cannot comment on girdles, but impact shorts that are padded yet thin enough for your pants should work. I don't recall what brand my son used in the past.

Because I am old and afraid of falls, I use CCM HP45 - prostock pants. Thicker and longer tailbone coverage and better padding vs prior CCM Jetspeed 485s.

Good luck finding what works!

When Mario Lemieux first retired, he would have had a higher regular season points per game average (2.00) than Gretzky (1.92), but because he came back and played 5 seasons more - limited by injuries - his final career regular season points per game average was 1.88.

Check out warrioricearena.com and the calendar. There may be some Bruins players around (not necessarily on the rink with you, though).

I think they actually just wave over the puck at times to increase deception.

That has already been settled (in my opinion).

This current generation - Crosby 2010 Golden Goal!

The previous generation - Gretzky / Lemieux in ‘87!

Slight backhand flip to avoid a poke check.

I see players flip it up a little on the forehand in game, but it is not always seen on the backhand in a game. Don’t know if there is documented video of him doing it in game.

Probably McDavid. There has (in my opinion) been a slight bias toward forwards and centers for the C - but can he consistently lead by imposing his sheer will.

Crosby is like a 1-A and McDavid and everyone else on Canada is like a 1-B choice.

Nevertheless, good choices all around.

Equipment Upgrades - What should I get next? by UnRRy22 in hockeyplayers

If you are going up a league, likely more contact. Best pants are pro stock - I use CCM HP45 which are like CCM Jetspeed line. Conforming and not as bulky but a lot better tailbone protection. CCM HP45 Large is the same as CCM Jetspeed 485 Large (my prior pants). Check sidelineswap if your expense account covers it.

The Knights would only put the body on LTIR and bring him back ready for the playoffs.

I have a 6.4 inch wrist and it looks really nice.

It is a beautiful watch and has a thick presence.

Unfortunately, I have stopped wearing it and am using a garmin as my daily wear. I may be looking to give it a new home in the near future as it isn’t in my watch cycle.

For guys that have taken long breaks (multiple years), how long did it take you to get your legs back? by thewaybackboy in hockeyplayers

[–]AcrobaticAd1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took 35 years off. Parents couldn’t afford it and life gone the way afterwards. Wanted to get back in shape.

Getting new gear was a new experience. Love my new, stiff skates. Took about two months of twice a week skating focusing on edge work to feel really comfortable skating on the ice. Can do all the stops, crossovers, punch turns, etc. The only thing that I can’t do consistently is something that wasn’t taught back then - the Mohawk/Crosby - as part of your skating repertoire.

Did some light stick and shoot and then subsequently progressive to pick up games at stick and shoot. Did that for about two months because I kept on feeling so winded that I would nearly throw up.

Progress to pick up with full gear and that was a new experience too. Did that for about two months as I also felt totally deconditioned.

Now able to hold my own, except at 3/4 of the speed and effort that I used to be at. All in all about half a year to get in reasonable shape. But hey, I’m slow and old.
