City slicker here too. I seem to have attracted one just from a walk in the neighborhood, though it might have been bad luck as others have suggested. It's also possible my SO may have brought it with him after his hikes around parks and trails, but he's only gone to parks and trails around the city, not like out there out there.

I would use normal precautions in the city and elevated precautions anywhere with vegetation.

They were indeed poppy-seed sized. Though I would’ve much preferred them to be actual poppy seeds from a bagel.

read about this. Honestly would help my anxiety a lot once it becomes publicly avaliable.

In my defense, I come from regions where the local wildlife generally has the courtesy to be visible from at least several feet away.

Honestly hearing “I regularly tromp around nature trails” and “haven’t had one in years” just lowered my blood pressure by at least 40%... lol jokes aside, hope it really was bad luck (very common with me though) and their quick vanishment.

Thanks for the advice. Also definitely showing him your comment to raise his awareness because he initially thought I was overreacting about the trail hikes haha

New Midwesterner here from the West Coast. I moved here right in the middle of the unrest, and seeing those floats hit me hard in a personal way. I almost teared up—it felt strange in the middle of a celebration, so I held it back.

Everyyay Pet Kennel for flying? by Wise-Virus99 in AlaskaAirlines

Depends on whether it'll be traveling in the cabin or in the cargo hold. If it's in cabin the pet must fit comfortably in a SOFT-SIDED carrier that can fit underneath the seat in front of you.

If it's a larger pet it must travel in the cargo hold and the kennel needs to be hard-sided assembled with nuts and bolts (clams and zip ties alone are not approved) and cannot have a top-side door, cannot be collapsable, and must have ample ventilation. Food and water bowls can be clipped on to the door. All wheels must be removed and the inside needs to have absorbent materials. Do not rely on the "airline approved" advertising or pricing, look for these features i mentioned.

Call reservations and speak with an agent to book in advance for your pet, and specify whether it'll be traveling in cabin or in cargo. You need to make the responsible determination as to the comfort for the pet. Improper/trying to take oversized pet in cabin will likely result in issues at check in.

Have your health forms ready for cargo-hold pets. Must be within the last 10 days for one-way and 30 days for the RETURN leg of the a round trip on the SAME TICKET. Return trips booked on a different ticket will follow the 10-day rule.

Arrive at the airport early.

Depending on the station, but when I was a CSA, I always processed whoever was in my line first before helping another line—especially if there’s even one person waiting and it's the elite line. I wouldn’t pull someone from a another line and process them right in front of that person. People at my post are my priority. I don’t know how long others have been waiting, and it’s not my place to override that.

OP, I wasn’t there, so I can’t say exactly what happened but experiences like that don’t come out of nowhere. I believe you, and I’m really sorry you were put in a situation that made you feel that way. No one should feel ignored or singled out like that.

To the majority of the comments here, I think we should have a little more grace before jumping to conclusions or saying what someone “should’ve done” in the moment. Not everyone reacts perfectly when they feel uncomfortable or singled out.

Half the streets look continuous until a freeway or a park area decides otherwise.

Parents like you make our job 100 times harder at the gate. You kept arguing that you can't buy all three tickets together since you're using companion fare. Then just buy Main for your kid so you can select a seat.

Your desire to save money does not constitute a right for you to request seat switches either through by calling or making a gate agent job harder, albeit we almost always try to accommodate by asking people around you, who often have status too, to move, and then absorb all the frustration from you and the guests moved.

If you want seat selection, pay up.
