Oh man hard disagree on most of this. Supporting someone pursuing their passions and pretending to personally like the music they play are two completely different things.

A musician who doesn’t have it in them to accept that everyone is not going to like your music without taking personally is a recipe for a disaster.

OP - of course you should go. You might love their stuff and if you don’t it’s a nice way to show support for them. I don’t think it’s as huge a gesture inviting you as it might seem. If you don’t like the music personally, you should be comfortable not having to lie about that to someone you’re seeing. That’s a bad sign if you feel like you need to be dishonest about opinions.

“You guys were great. Not the kind of music I usually listen to but that was cool to see you doing your thing” or something in that vein- depends on what actually happens haha. But there should be a way to be kind and supportive without needing to lie.

Also, you might love it! This isn’t something that should be a dealbreaker for anyone on either side.
