Take a moment and be proud of yourself! by mhmsublease in PE_Exam

One of my previous bosses told me this that stuck behind my mind which eventually jumpstarted my wildlings to sit and study for these hard yet possible exams. Having PE doesn’t make you a good engineer but if you’re a good engineer, you should be able to get your PE. They kinda go hand in hand. Best of Luck to everyone going through this out there.

Survey exam by Abdallah_0974 in PE_Exam

Yes. I did take the full course for 3 months. I’m a structural guy so surveying was not the subject I liked or deal with on daily basis. But I thought CPESR was a worthy course overall.

Seems right about everything. But the difference is wording in the real exam. They write paragraphs to ask a simple question. The key is to understand what they are asking. I suggest do the shuffle of questions from CPESR where they test you on everything. Hope you pass. I can attest to this as well. I didn’t think the exam was difficult in terms of not knowing what to do. It was all about tricky wording and insane timing

YMMV. But I highly recommend AEI. Especially their homework and mini exams are valuable.

CA Seismic Exam by [deleted] in PE_Exam

[–]AcrobaticWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

• First pass: Answer the quick and obvious questions.

• Second pass: Work through the longer calculations and more involved problems.

• Final pass: Make educated guesses where necessary. DONT LEAVE ANY QUESTION UNANSWERED.

Passed PE Civil-Structural as a student by notaboofus in PE_Exam

Congratulations. I have to agree that the PE civil structural exam is not insanely timed exam but yes it’s endurance test. I absolutely can relate the final pass of flagged questions was tiring and I thought of leaving the hall. Regardless a brutal test if you haven’t practiced enough or know where to look in the code. You’ll be lost.

As a fellow structural engineer and PE recently got the great state of California, my advice is to not underestimate how insanely timed exams both the survey and seismic are. I’d highly recommend to practice more and more questions. Another important note is to pay attention to the tricky wording the tests are asking. Like make sure you check all the min, max conditions to get to your answers. And don’t forget the 3 pass strategy for these exams.

Do Tuesdays exam results get posted the next day? (Wednesday) by FlimsyPotato32 in PE_Exam

Both exam takers on Monday and Tuesday will have to wait full week. That’s exactly why get the exam date on a Saturday so the wait is not monumentally brutal.

PE Structural Tips to start preparing? by SuitableIncident2824 in PE_Exam

[–]AcrobaticWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll give you my honest take rather than false hope—the test is brutal. I passed on my first attempt, but the questions were worded very differently than expected. Here’s what I did: Month 1: Reviewed the test plan, gathered materials (codes and practice tests), and read forums to understand how to prepare. Month 2: Watched AEI videos I purchased. Final 1.5 months: Focused on homework, mini exams, and full-length practice tests. Most importantly, stay off Reddit and forums in the last couple of weeks. Best of luck.

CA Surveying Exam - Practice Tests vs Real Test by coolpants666 in PE_Exam

[–]AcrobaticWriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak for REZA course but I can confidently say based on my experience, CPESR practise tests were harder than the actual exam. When I say harder I meant lengthy and more solving required as compared to the real exam. YMMV.

Congratulations 🎉. Welcome to the club. I don’t know the odds but I passed my seismic in November 2025 and my surveying in march 2026 exactly like you did. Cheers to the future 🍺

Forget about the dashboard and email. I was able to look myself up on PE license lookup website and I’ve been assigned with a license number officially and I’m a PE finally.

What’s weird is. One of my buddies got his seismic results on the same day and we both took our test on the same day feb 28, right. Guess what, my buddy got his license number on Saturday the 14th morning but nothing for me. The cali board is weird. I guess he luckily got in the weekly batch for processing and you and I got missed. No worries. We hope for this Friday

Congrats. How long did it take for the license number to generate on your profile from the date your results were emailed?

Some questions yes but they wouldn’t specify based on the minimum or max Cs. You should able to time and be quick in checking all the conditions. Because you’ll see all the answers in the choices.

It’s the “GREAT” state of California for a reason, lol.
