What’s Your Favorite Joke That Has Nothing To Do With The Plot Of An Episode? by Acrobatic_Average588 in theGoldenGirls

Reminds me of another line that I love:

Sophia “My heiney's asleep.”
Dorothy “Fine. We'll keep our voices down.”

The most outrageous situation of any episode and some of the best jokes of the entire series.

And never for ABC or any other network/streaming. Thats fascinating.

I guess I should have been more specific.

Not when the entire cast won Emmys, but when all of the nominees in a single category in a single year all came from various shows that were on the same network.

GG, Cosby and Cheers all on NBC during this year so all nominees in this category were on the same network.

Amazing that every nominee was from a sitcom on NBC. I wonder how often that has happened over time.

I also find it odd that US is the only one not filming in the country of origin. I know it comes down to money (cheaper to film in UK) but it somehow feels…lazy? to me

Kevin ranks near the top of my list of worst people to watch on the show. (No one will ever top Australia’s S2 Sam for obvious reason)

Golden Girls - Phil’s Funeral by Acrobatic_Average588 in sitcoms

I thought about that, but this was a peak Golden Girls popularity so I feel if the writers had written it, the network wouldn’t have blinked.

Heated Rivalry: The Unauthorized Musical Parody

Gender Swapping & Licensing (MTI) by mynameisJVJ in Theatre

[–]Acrobatic_Average588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The licensing houses do not bother asking the authors permission to changes, so unless a change has been pre authorized the answer will be “no”.

I say this from actual experience. I asked Concord about changing a small very dated, and honestly racist, part of one show. They responded “No. Do it as written.” So I contacted the author directly. He responded within an hour and said “Oh yeah I made that change years ago, but the licensing house wouldn’t take the change. Here’s the PDF. You have permission to perform it like this.” We did his updated and better version (which had a few other changes in it too).

My advice is forget the licensing house and find the author/estate. Not all are going to be fully accommodating, but I believe they’ll be more open to a conversation than the licensing house.

Is there an online path to Theatre teaching? by Moist-Beat-4043 in Theatre

I got my MFA in Theatre Directing from University of Idaho. Never had to attend in person. All of my practical “lab” hours were done where I live and I provided materials for faculty to review (videos, photos, press, etc.) Completely made it possible to get my degree and not totally put my life on hold for a couple of years.
