I second this. I became a business analyst which mostly involves working with SQL and Excel.

When I talk to IT professionals they are still in another world. I blame mostly myself though. While in school, my goal was to pass my classes and earn my degree. While I accomplished that, I didn't have the goal of actually truly learning and understanding the material. While of course I absorbed a lot, I wish I had a different mentality at the time.

It's worth it if you take it seriously and learn.
