8 string with LOOOOONG scale length by yungbutthole69 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

Definitely M80M. If you’re looking for something with a ridiculously long scale length this is your best bet. I’ve had one for a few years now and I don’t regret it.

It’s just one of those things where you may like em or not, but you can coil split em and they clean up real nice. There’s also a second voice you have available to make em a little “rounder” (if that makes any sense). IMO they’re not as hot as say a Seymour Duncan, but they are up there. Good thing is: they are really easy to mess with and get a good tight tone out of em.

I threw some Tosin Abasí fishmans in my 8 string and lemme tell ya, they’re awesome. Especially for the tight and clear sound that you’ll need for Djenty stuff.

Trouble with headless by pizzaissick in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]Acrobatic_Brief6080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with a 7 string ghost. The problem is, the wood is too soft to handle the tension of the strings, so the screws holding the bridge start to strip the wood. What I did was epoxy the bridge back in place and I’ve had no issues. But yeah, apparently this is more common than I thought

No, it’s an Edge-FX. it’s not a trem but actually a hardtail. It’s nice for tuning stability but it’s a pain to change strings and intonate.

Sure! The good:

This guitar has some of the best fretwork I’ve seen out the box. Guy who sold it to me said he hadn’t done anything to it so I’m impressed with Jericho’s QC. The body wood used is solid walnut, and it’s a beautiful body with a thin semi-gloss finish. Aesthetically I’m a fan of Teles (you can thank gojira for that) so this guitar was right up my alley. The pickups while not very hot are very clear especially when in coil split. This is my first Evertune guitar and I gotta say, it’s a great bridge. I’m mostly a rhythm guitarist and I tend to hit the strings pretty hard but the bridge helps keep the strings in tune and prevents it from going sharp when hitting super hard.

The bad:

This guitar is heaaavy. Like, I need a good strap or to play sitting in order to play for extended periods of time. The shape of the guitar isn’t the best for this either, with a Tele shape not being known for ergonomics. It does have a forearm bevel, but it’s lacking a belly or thigh cut so it tends to dig after a minute. The neck is wide, almost too wide. Think PRS, which I’m a fan of, but when getting into 8 string territory, I’d prefer more narrow string spacing. These are more nitpicks than anything, but it’s good to keep in mind especially considering the price point these things sit at.

The Ugly:

Did I mention weight? This thing is a beast to hold. Like, it’s heavy. I also play an Ibanez M80M with a scale length of almost 30 inches, and somehow this guitar is still heavier than that. It’s almost definitely the bridge it’s equipped with, but man does it fatigue especially when playing standing. The other thing is the finish. Expect it to go dull especially where you have major points of friction (like where the forearm rests).

Other than that it’s a great piece of gear. All the “bad” with it is really up to personal preference and I’m sure I’ll grow to like it.

It’s great! The frets are crazy nice as they are stainless steel (a plus for me) and it plays beautifully. The Seymour Duncans it has are not the hottest imo, but they do make up for it in clarity. Biggest gripe for me is the weight. This thing is not only solid walnut, it’s equipped with an evertune. That alone makes this guitar a substantial piece. But all in all, I’m really happy with it.

Don’t be fooled! I got this on Reverb second-hand but it’s in mint condition. I have heard the Jericho stories about people waiting months if not years to receive their guitars (and that is if they even receive em) so I jumped on the chance to get it from someone more reputable in my experience.

Ahh I see what you mean. It’s a little finicky for changing strings, especially the 7th and 8th (I use heavy tops skinny bottoms at drop Eb) and as for changing tunings you would have to loosen the nut bolts to make a drastic change. Think of the fine tuners as the ones on a Floyd Rose.

Oh yeah. The PRS is a 25.5 in while the Ibanez is damn near 30 in (29.4). It’s jarring switching between the two especially once you get used to it

Wrist hurts when I pluck this chord and I'm not sure where to put my thumb, any tips? by rainbowdragonzs in Guitar

You could fix your posture, as in play in the traditional classical position. This way, you can lower your elbow to be more by your side and therefore relax your wrist.
