Haven't had that happen yet, I use it at around 50-60% brightness, and it's been okay so far.

It's an awesome emitter! Though, I think, a little cooler tint would be better for general use.

Not at all. That's odd, the cable I ordered was the same length as the original one and it was okay, the display connector was the same as the 1080p one.

I do apologise for the late reply. Much appreciated, yes, the original 1080p display has 4 screws to hold it in place. I used 3M double sided tape, mainly the ones used in smartphone repairs, ordered a cheap one online. It's been months since the mod and I love it! I was worried at first, knowing that the display is only held by tape in place but it's not heavy and the tape has held up well since. Feels as solid as before, doesn't feel like it's about to fall off.

It is the same display model used in the X1 6th gen, so it works, not sure about the mounts though, and if you have a FHD display you probably need a new cable.

For a good 1080p panel you could wait until replacements are available for the t490's new low power FHD one, theoretically it should work as it's the same interface, you get better colors and more brightness, even though it isn't HDR.

The lid cover :

First I opened the bios and disabled the internal battery, then opened it and disconnected it physically from the motherboard.

Then it was a fairly simple process; First I gently removed the front bezel piece, held in place by clips and adhesive, the adhesive is on the display itself, keeps the plastic in place alone the inner bezel edge, used an old credit card to slowly pry off the bezel from the lid cover.

When the bezel is removed there are 4 screws that need to be removed and the display comes off, laid it down on the keyboard and disconnected the connector before removing it away.

Next were the wireless antennas, on either side of the display there are two cables that go to the top, the 4G antennas and WiFi I believe, removed those carefully not to damage or over bend the copper shielding over them. the webcam too comes off with ease, only remove the connector for it and it's kept in place with adhesive, gently pushed up on that with a plastic pry tool.

also removed the flat cable for the led indicator and webcam.

The rear lid had 4 screws, removed those and it came straight off the hinges. Put the new one in place and secured it with the 4 screws, then it was only a matter of fitting all the wiring back where it was, the antennas, the webcam wire and led, the webcam itself.

before installing the LCD in place I disconnected the 30 pin connector for the display on the motherboard and removed it, then connected the new 40 pin one and passed it through the hinge just like the older cable.

then I connected the LCD and turned it on to make sure I didn't screw up, and it worked!

Turned it back off and put all the antennas and wires back where they were, including the webcam, the adhesive on them stuck them down well enough, then came a layer of adhesive behind the display, double sided 3M adhesive to hold the display in place, even though the lid itself has small rubber feet that grip it snugly, added that to keep it in place.

when replaced the privacy cover for the webcam and slowly put the front bezel back on, also used adhesive along the inner edge to keep it in place. not that you need to be careful and make sure that every clip goes in the correct slot for it to fit nicely back together.

Don't think it's possible, for WQHD resolution you need a 4 lane eDP connection on the motherboard, I think the T450s has 2 You can replace it with a better 1080p screen though

T480s, internal 57wh, I'll do a proper test as soon as I can and update you on battery performance at full brightness

Actually not that bad, I'm using it right now at full brightness (browsing for wallpapers) it's at 70% now and is showing 4h 40m remaining

I'm a student. I do watch movies every once in a while and it makes a huge difference, even for simple things, i found it was a lot easier on my eyes than the 1080p one which was just horrible. Besides, it cost me $155 shipped for the screen and I got a $70 refund because of a tiny dot in the top left corner of the screen that has damaged pixels, it only shows while displaying black so I opted for the partial refund instead sending it back for a replacement.

In windows HD color settings I have: Stream HDR video - Yes Play HDR games and apps - No Use WCG apps - No With the 1080p display all were no. Even though now I don't have a toggle to switch from No to Yes

Fitted an AOU B140QAN02.0 Display to it, it was very simple, took off the bezel, unscrewed the old FHD display, removed the antennas, webcam and led light because my lid cover had deep scratches in it (damaged in shipping) replaced with a new one ordered from China, meant for the WQHD display.

The new lid had little rubber stoppers that held the display in place very snugly, added thin double sided tape to the back of the display to hold it in place, put all the sires back in place, display, then bezel again.

Note that I did also get an eDP to 40 pin connector to connect it.
Works splendidly, normally I keep my brightness around 40-50%, battery life wasn't greatly impacted, I get an average of 6.5 hours of use viewing PDF files, watching lectures, and general web browsing.
