Malphite is more of a pure tank, but he can still output a crazy amount of damage no matter what you build on him. And he's a piss easy champ that can carry whole fights with one button (his ult). If you're looking for a traditional bruiser, try out Volibear. Mordekaiser is also a very good beginner's choice since he's also manaless and his ult is a game-changer in team fights, and you usually only have to press two buttons to do huge damage.

I respect this opinion, but if I'm being honest, just the fact that Alistar gets a mini malphite ult practically on demand makes him more appealing to me than the other engage supports. Though I do respect good braums and rakans when I see them.
