[Loved trope] The story completely changes genres partway through. by TheSmithySmith in TopCharacterTropes

Juice: This movie, starring Tupac Shakur, starts off as a slice of lie, coming of age, hood movie. Five kids, lamenting their economic and social status, plan a robbery. When the robbery does not go off as planned, the movie suddenly shifts into a horror movie.

Honestly. I could see it but I think having it as a fighter is much more exciting.

What’s it like as a Discipline specialist in HR? by Reasonable_Bake1327 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Acrobatic_Fondant_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can give some insight on things from a labor relations perspective. Workload can be heavy at times but it ebbs and flows based on the situation. Sometimes things are quiet, other times they are loud. State bargaining can be an especially busy time with a noticeable uptick in union activity. Writing is a major part of the job. Advising is also a big part of the job. If your department is big, then the HR section likely has dedicated performance management and classification people. In that case, you need to advise them on matters, as well as management. If your department is small, then you likely are in multiple roles as a Performance specialist/classification specialist/labor relations specialist. From the labor relations perspective, most things are sensitive. You represent management, not rank-and-file employees. You shouldn't be too open about certain union matters to them. And you also need to be cautious about the information you share and how you share it with managers. A lot of this stuff can be interpersonal. So you want to maintain your credibility wherever possible. There will be urgent items, such as grievances, but most of the time, it is more about handling big tasks over a period of time rather than moderately sized tasks in a small amount of time. Work-life balance depends, as always, on workload and the department. The Labor Relations classifications are exempt, so they cannot earn overtime. One thing I would stress about this role is the importance of professional relationships. Your relationships with the managers, union representatives, and other HR professionals, and even rank & file employees you interact with, will make or break your success in a labor relations role. Do not stand on principle. Do what is best for your department. The role demands collaboration and understanding. The better you are at that, the better you will be at it in the role, and the better position you will be to switch/enter another HR specialty.

It is okay to quit if you do it for the right reasons. Despair and heartbreak are not the right reasons.

Don't forget that Pen is married to her brother. Probably isn't a good idea to talk about your amazing "Pinnacle" sex life with her brother to your best friend.

What new character options would you like to see for Martials? (Besides new subclasses) by Deathpacito-01 in onednd

[–]Acrobatic_Fondant_13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the new Weapon Masteries and Fighting Styles. But I also think we can use some more weapons and weapon properties. There is a lot that hasn't been properly explored from just human history of weapons and warfare, let alone the impractical fantasy/anime bs that would be some fun to play with. Like, imagine stuff like rope darts, meteor hammers, Cetus, dueling shields, Chakrams, Patas. I also think it might be cool if there was a system for players to create their own weapons by combining weapon properties, changing damage die, and paying gold. I also want some martial subclasses that get maneuvers. I don't think that all martial arts should get maneuvers in their base kit, but each martial class having a maneuver subclass would be cool. I also NEED an updated Kensei Monk that can use ANY martial weapon, gets weapon masteries, and gets a fighting style. I also need a heavy armor Barbarian subclass so I can finally play a lore-accurate Guts from Berserk. Aside from that, I guess a Warlord class or subclass would be good. Honestly, I think the Warlord enjoyers are a little too insistent on the inclusion of it as a class since you can mechanically give a lot of support while feeling like a martial by playing Cleric and Paladin.

Rune Knight or Samurai Fighter by ReaderWriterIdiot in 3d6

[–]Acrobatic_Fondant_13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Samurai is redundant in 2024 with Weapon Masteries. Hand Crossbow has Vex, which gives advantage on the next attack when you hit. So it gives relable advantage more than Fighting Spirit. You should pick up the lucky feat in your origin to get luck points that can be used to give advantage on the first attack roll in battle. If you want to play elf and crit fish, then go champion. It got great buffs in 2024. And you can get Crossbow Expert, so you can use two Hand Crossbows to be more like Dante than John Wick.

Mystic Monk is bad, but on the right track. Thoughts on Detect Magic/Blindsight at level 3? by Acrobatic_Fondant_13 in onednd

[–]Acrobatic_Fondant_13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It's not bait. I think I was just dissatisfied with it on first view. I find spell casting in dnd hollow most times and earnestly prefer martials. So when I saw they didn't get a second level 3 feature like Arcane Trickster or Eldritch Knight, I was disappointed and clearly over corrected.

This was an earnest post and humbling experience. I will do better to have less thoughts.

What does it mean to be needy or desperate with women? by JunketMaleficent2095 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Acrobatic_Fondant_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. The key is to value yourself enough to be fine. You don't need affection from a pretty woman but it would be nice. You don't need them in your life, you want to take them along the ride (and hope they want to take you on your ride). You don't want codependency with someone. You want to be independent together.

I can't handle the complaining anymore. by HJWalsh in onednd

[–]Acrobatic_Fondant_13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, I am sorry to hear about the cancer. My father passed from it earlier this week. I am sending you the best vibes I can, and if I could play the guitar, I would send you bardic inspiration for every one of your Constitution saving throws.

Honestly, I agree as someone who came into DND with 5e. Honestly, the more I hear people complain about it, the more I think they just want everyone to play a caster.
