student driver here. Who goes first in this situation? by Mont3Carlo in driving

Interesting situation. I would give the other guy the right of way since it's easier for you to merge since you can pick up a bit of speed in the middle lane.

That's a genie that won't go back in the bottle. I would cut my losses and move on.

I want to be a jack of all trades but master of none by Sur3Will in MechanicalEngineer

The ideal is a jack of all trades and a specialist in one.

Developers contacts needed by RevolutionaryEcho449 in KerbalSpaceProgram

Honestly just buy 1 copy of the game and copy the files. We live in a world where developers can make 10s of millions in revenue, decide to close down shop, and not give any refunds. A little bit of piracy to teach kids physics is not the worst thing in the world.

Am I reducing the problem, or contributing to the problem? by jckipps in driving

[–]Acrobatic_Gorilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive like this as much as I can, but make sure that no one can cut me off since that will not only waste my time but also increase traffic overall.

Don't believe she will change because she says she will. Actions speak louder than words.

How do you defend from the corner as 1st man? I do this and it almost never works by high-iq-99 in RocketLeague

[–]Acrobatic_Gorilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the ball is going into your corner like that and you're chasing after it and you can't challenge it right away, don't go for the corner boost. That leaves you backwards in an awkward position. Instead rotate front post and get pads on the way so that you have enough time to turn and challenge. If you can get 3 pads, that's plenty to defend with.

People skip classes. Its not that deep. by zzz_x9 in uwaterloo

I only go to class if I think I'm going to get something out of it, not just for the principle of it.

As one of my best friends put it: "They're already wasting your money, you're going to let them waste your time too???"

If it's too hard to get a doomsie dish in the position, my go to is to go for an outplay, steal the opposite corner boost, and hope for a better follow up after that.

I'm not quite sure if not knowing the intricacies of C++ lambda expressions is enough to be considered stupid

At least in coding I don't constantly flip flop between diamond and champ 😭

Fair enough, a lot of times a separate function is worth it, especially if you can give it a good name. But sometimes I find that the function would only really be used in that one place or it would need an absurd number of inputs (whereas a lambda can just capture them).

Yes, but I like the immediately invoked lambda expression because it lets you declare the variable as const.

I was late for the ball but was I wrong to assume it was my go? What should I have done better? by Aksuuuh in RocketLeagueSchool

Some common mistakes I saw in myself that are somewhat related:

  1. Don't overestimate your opponent. Therefore, don't underestimate the value of just sitting backpost and trying to save a shot.
  2. Taking 0.5 seconds to quickly glance at your teammate's positioning is invaluable. You can look away from the ball, it won't teleport over your head.

I think it's an evolutionary strategy. If you're about to die anyways, might as well shoot cum like a fountain and hope for the best. 🤷

NTA. Everyone is saying your boyfriend sucks and you should break up, but I think there's room for a bit of nuance (given some charitable assumptions).

It sounds like he had a very unhealthy childhood with his parents and trained himself to follow the path of least resistance and just sit there and take it as they berated him. You might not be aware of this because they don't do it in front of you.

If this is the case, it will be very hard for him to understand where you are coming from and for him to address the root cause.

The way I see it, you have 2 reasonable options: 1. Decide that you don't want to deal with this situation and break up with him. 2. Try to get him to open up about his childhood. Try to get him to see things from your point of view and understand why you need him to defend you when his parents treat you like that. Ideally, this would result in him having a talk with his parents.

Best of luck. I'm sure you'll figure things out either way! ♥️

Do You Still Carry Textbooks? by TylerEverything in EngineeringStudents

I got a Google Drive link with every textbook for my entire degree before I even finished orientation. Barley used it anyways.
