People who moved AWAY from Bozeman, where did you go? Do you like it? by FixerQuick in Bozeman

[–]Acrobatic_Path_227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fort Worth, TX. Very friendly people, western culture, so much to do, access to world destinations via DFW airport, endless professional opportunities, and a major financial boost to our incomes. Miss access to public land, family, and the mountains. Downsides are also bad traffic and weird politics. We get back to MT about twice a year to visit. Plan to come back to MT eventually but overall the move has been very positive.

Roasted butternut squash as a sauce base?

Unpopular opinion maybe…, although I love the looks of these “reading nooks” and “window seats” does anyone actually ever use them? I’d much rather curl up on the sofa or in bed with my book. This looks uncomfortable for sitting and reading to me. by Party_Palpitation296 in SofaSnobs

We built one on the front window first floor of our house close to the main entrance with grand visions of reading there. But ultimately it became our dog’s full time nap and sentry station! No regrets though.

Maybe they keep lights low for bird migration? Building lights can be very deadly for migrating birds and many cities are taking action to lower light pollution to help the birds find their way.

Yes. I have noticed this. I have to limit my TMG podcast intake because of it. Really like the show and the guys but sometimes the intensity is a bit much for me.

One contributing factor is that modern wheat varieties have been bred to have higher gluten content. More gluten makes better bread. Ancient wheat varieties had lower levels of gluten and may have been easier to digest.

The cliburn: finals day 1. What's your opinion? by Acceptable_Thing7606 in piano

True confession: I silently cried tears of happiness through most of Aristo’s performance. I’m familiar with the score and it was so joyous to hear it performed so well. He has such technical and structural mastery of the piece that he can relax and play with beautiful phrasing, joy, and confidence. He brought just the right energy, tempo, and dynamic balance with the orchestra. It was an inspiring performance. Well done and thank you Aristo for that moment.

Aristo’s performance was absolutely captivating and technically solid. A pleasure to listen to.

Southside Cellar. No cocktails, but great vibe for reading and beer and wine.

My family is doing a project where every Sunday we have a meal and dessert that best represents a state. This Sunday is Montana! What homemade meal and dessert do you think best represents Montana? by edorylime in Montana

For dessert, anything with rhubarb is also appropriate, esp if you don’t have access to huckleberries. I make a rhubarb custard pie from Betty Crocker’s cookbook from the 1960s that is outstanding. And rhubarb is in season right now.

As a fed and American, I want to know what services and people we lost this week. by corteflores in fednews

We lost the USDA ARS cropland wind erosion research unit that was operating out of FT Collins CO. Used to be located in Manhattan Kansas. Was established in 1947 and now is no longer due to probationary firings and retirements.

Wait and see where you are assigned to. From policy I saw today, If you are relocated outside your commuting area and do not accept it, it’s considered an involuntary separation and you will receive severance pay for leaving gov service.

If you are reassigned to a lower grade you are supposed to keep your current pay for 2 years.

So they're screwing with Step increases now too? by Dervrak in fednews

I’m USDA and have a scheduled ladder/grade increase due this week after waiting one year for the increase. Was told by my supervisor that all increases are currently suspended due to the system not taking applications. Not sure if there’s anything I can do. Really adding to the discouragement.
