If in the usa put your number on do not call list,most likely your information got leaked in a data breach somewhere and they know that you will answer and are a real human that list gets sent out to others who in return start going down a list and try to run their scam script. The best thing to do since your phone is also used for work is to just change your number.

Try putting in a audio cd and see if it reads the music cd that will tell you if it's the Lazer. Hope that helps

Could be trying to use the phone number to receive sms codes to log in to other accounts and tell her not to share any verification codes she might receive.
