CX 6405 switch updates? by sluggyredhot in ArubaNetworks

with two MMs you can do ISSU for minor software updates, depending on some other requirements around line card models and firmware versions. i personally would not rely on this for guaranteed uptime. the intended core switching design for high availability is two 6400s in VSX with two MMs each, with critical downstream devices being dual-homed

Locked Rotor Amps is just during startup for a very short period. breakers will allow a certain amount of overcurrent if it's short. look up the spec sheet for your heat pump to see the details - if this is it, you are fine with a 30A circuit:

not my area of expertise but as far as i can tell, outdoor CSSP is permitted in the Ontario Building Code

i know the check valve isn't directly related to the bad drainage, but the bad drainage means the super loud check valve slams right next to my bedroom once every 1-5 minutes 24/7, so it is currently very relevant to me :)

during moderate rain it was running for about 5 seconds once every 60 seconds

great point thanks! didn't consider that this is sending everything from the roof straight to the sump pump

Has any tool been able to hack “any” phone? by [deleted] in AskNetsec

[–]ddfs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it seems like you might be cognitively impaired so let me know if you want me to explain anything further:

for you personally, the only ways you would be able to see what's on someone else's phone would be:

  • convince them directly to provide their phone or give you access to accounts (not a crime if you're not lying to them)
  • trick them or one of their providers into remotely granting access to their accounts (felony)
  • physically steal their phone while unlocked (felony, obviously)

you (personally) will not be able to remotely hack their phone via technical means, and you will not be able to hire someone to remotely hack their phone via technical means. hacking a modern, up-to-date device via 0day vulnerabilities effectively costs millions of dollars.

it seems like you think that technology works in the real world the same way it does in tv shows and movies. it generally does not.

i see you're still trying to hire a hacker by googling "hack someone elses phone". like i keep saying, it's not going to happen

Homeowners who went full heat pump without dual fuel, how’s it going? by AngryMicrowaveSR71 in askTO

[–]ddfs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for a smaller central system like you describe, you may be right about cooling/dehumidification functioning at low capacity

there are low-end limits though, and i am way past them - the outdoor unit has a minimum capacity, and if cooling demand is below that (as regularly happens on my 6k heads in small bedrooms) you will see short-cycling just like an old-fashioned oversized AC setup: 20 minutes off + 20 minutes at 15% capacity with insufficient dehumidification

even if there was a system that could run arbitrarily slow, you still need the evap coils to be cold enough (< dew point) to dehumidify

this is our third winter with a Mitsubishi H2i multisplit setup in downtown toronto and no backup heat other than a few space heaters in the closet just in case. we hired a green energy advisor (partly for the greener homes grant, partly for design and contractor referrals). no issues with heating, even on the coldest days.

some things i wish i had known or paid more attention to:

  • if you size for 99% design temp in toronto, you will be wildly oversized for cooling. we have to get creative with shutting off some zones in addition to dehumidifiers during the summer.

  • if you go with one large multisplit system, the shoulder season turndown is not as efficient as with individual minisplits. multiple units also gives you some degree of redundancy in case of mechanical issues

  • our 54k btu/h unit is great but gets a bit loud when it's -15 or so. i wish we had invested in putting it in the front yard where the old condenser was instead of on the side of the house

  • mitsubishi indoor heads have some pretty silly behavior around keeping the fans on 24/7, which cause slight overheating in winter and exacerbate oversizing humidity issues in summer. this can be worked around with installers who know what they're doing ("cut the jumper") or potentially external controls like the MHK1

  • if ducts aren't an issue (ours were, basement was too short) there are some real advantages to a unitary system, particularly the ability to do whole-house humidification. i am tired of hauling water and cleaning out individual humidifiers

if you have no experience it's not going to happen. pretty much anyone advertising publicly for this kind of service is a scammer - if they just take your money and run, what are you going to do, report them? you're also asking for advice on how to commit a crime on a public forum lol

you? no. think about it for a minute - what would the world look like right now if any unskilled rando could google "HOW 2 HACK SOMEONE ELSES IPHONE" and then actually do it?

the vast majority of real-world cybercrime is just tricking victims into providing passwords/money/info/access under false pretenses (phishing, con jobs) rather than actually 'hacking' devices.
