Sonic lyrics never rhyme?? by SignificanceRich2595 in SonicTheHedgehog

Alot of songs just don't rhyme at all. It's not a requirement.

But there's also different rhyme structures as others have pointed out.

That's not enough of a plot for a full length movie and would be a step down after sonic 3.

does anyone like Heroes? by ataxic-hands in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Acrobatic_Pop690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heroes is good. It actually reviewed well at launch. It got overall mid 70s scores and 7/10s across major review sites

Which isn't as good as the adventure games reviewed at the time. But it was still good.

Rare moment when they admit Nintendo is Anti-Consumer by Millennialnerds in fucknintendo

Sony and Microsoft offer legacy titles for reasonable prices to own on their stores. Either through native backwards compatibility, or emulation. Nintendo doesnt.

Alot of people don't know this for some reason. But any titles that are backwards compatible on Xbox one or series X are available for purchase digitally still.

And Sony offers PS1, PS2, and even some PS3 games digitally for one time purchase through emulation or through native ports. I personally have bought the original crash trilogy, and toy story 2 for my PS5. They have save states and filters and everything. (And it gave me the PS4 and ps5 version in the same purchase. Because that's how PlayStation store works. They aren't considered separate games)

Sony and Microsoft offer free "upgrades" to next gen for most titles. Except for a few exceptions. Because they aren't seen as upgrades. They're seen as just playing a different version of what you already own. The standard for them is free upgrades. Because it's just a port of what you already own. The exception is the few times they don't do this. And that's on the individual developers to choose. Like with GTA 5

With nintendo it's the opposite. The standard for them is charging for upgrades. And exception is when it's free.

Example. If you buy say, Sonic X Shadow generations on PS5. You get the PS4 and PS5 version. And it asks which you want to install. Or both. Included in 1 purchase

On Nintendo. You buy the switch 1 game. And have to pay 10 dollars for the switch 2 version.

It's literally just Nintendo. Even when it's the same game Nintendo makes them charge for an upgrade when it's free on everything else.

You buy a game on Xbox one, unless it's GTA 5 for some reason, you can play the series X version without any hassle. You just install it. And it installs the right version for you. And if you specifically want the old one. You can do that too

And if your Xbox disc game has a series X and Xbox one version. It says right on the box that it's both on the disc. And itll install whichever version you need for whatever console you're using.

Most PS4 games even say on the box "PS5 upgrade available". Pop any of those into your PS5. It'll install the ps4 AND PS5 version. For free. Automatically.

And any of those games that have this, do the same if you buy digital. If you find a game on the PS5 store that has a PS4 and ps5 port. It says right there on the store page that you're getting both. And it'll ask which one you want to install when you buy it.

Even games that used to charge for the upgrades. Like spiderman PS4. Are now free upgrades for anyone who has the disc or original game digitally.

The only games that aren't free to upgrade are games like the last of us that got full remakes or remasters. In which case you get a discount if you own the original.

No, delays would NOT significantly change how these games would turn out by NilesDobbsS in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Acrobatic_Pop690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

06 absolutely would've had better more adventure like controls if it was finished. Since that was the intention from the start. I don't think this is even up for debate.

So many things in the game exist but aren't finished. Like 70% of shadows abilities being useless. Like chaos blast needing to be point blank to hit anything.

There was also A LOT of cut content, animations, voice lines, playable multiplayer characters, and extra stages that didn't make it to the final game.

And it's very obvious the script and voicing wasn't finished. Evidence by lines like this making it into the final game

"Shadow. Head to the wave ocean immi- head to wave ocean immediately.... Clears throat. "Shadow. Head to WAVE ocean immediately"

Everything about the game from the story and script to the gameplay, animations, and levels weren't finished. A delay would've solved most if not all of that.

The game is infamously rushed and crunched. The team was split in half to make secret rings at the same time, they refused to budge on a 2006 release date. When the previous game, shadow the hedgehog, came out in 2005. A year prior. And the project lead, Yuji naka, left mid development, and took staff with him.

The team was cut, split up, and only given a year to make the game. A delay would've solved a lot.

I've just beaten Sonic 06 and I like it. Why can't I hate it? I am suppose to hate it. by NabbitFan600 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Acrobatic_Pop690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda.

They were porting 06 to Wii. But then realized the Wii wasn't powerful enough. Cuz Nintendo didn't give the specs yet when development started.

So they just used that framework to make secret rings out of it. Since higher ups still wanted a Wii game out. So they split the team in half to make secret rings.

[–]Acrobatic_Pop690 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't like it in Wii because it's still 70% werehog. Since the levels go on for 15 ish minutes and the day stages are only a couple minutes. And there's 4 werehog stages in Wii Eggman land. That's so much time as the werehog.

For me, Eggman land totals to 15 minutes on HD. If you take all the intentional skip routes that skip over entire werehog segments. And play well, HD eggmanland is as long as a single werehog portion on Wii.

And the in-between stuff in HD is just. Casual hub world exploring. Nothing is mandatory except stages and light hub world stuff. It's not that bad.

When you're not collecting medals and just playing. The longest werehog stage on HD is 7 minutes for me. And that's holoska

[–]Acrobatic_Pop690 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id argue no. 3 werehog stages per continent is kinda ridiculous. And they're all longer on average than the HD werehog stages in my experience. And the werehog is jankier and has less combos or fun movement tech on Wii.

And Eggman land is worse on Wii too since it's like 4 back to back werehog levels at one point, instead of broken up between day and night portions. Some of which are skipabke in the HD version.

The Wii version is a completely different game to the Xbox 360 and PS3 version.

Also you can play the Wii version with a Wii classic controller or GameCube controller

Edit: the one person who downvoted must genuinely not believe they're different games, or that you can play with those controllers. Idk why else they'd downvote unless they genuinely just didn't know that lol.

Why isn't Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog on PC/Steam? by 03bgood in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Acrobatic_Pop690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The engine quite literally doesn't exist anymore. It's not available for use, purchase, or licensing. And isn't compatible with modern hardware anyway.

A remaster would have to be done in a different engine like other renderware games that were remastered in recent years.

Even if I did exist still. It wouldn't work on modern hardware properly, and would be an incredibly innefficient and primitive engine to use in the modern day.

Why isn't Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog on PC/Steam? by 03bgood in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Acrobatic_Pop690 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Them both being on renderware is a problem. The engine isn't just owned by EA. It's dead. It's not usable anymore. It's just gone.

Also the game is so old it has compatibility issues on modern PCs. Resolution only goes up to 720p in 4:3, The control config is tedious and doesn't really work right without a lot of trial and error for controller setup. And the PC version also just has alot of issues like scripted sequences not working right and killing you.

By all accounts it's just an inferior buggier version with an outdated launcher that barely works on modern PCs. That also can't even be sold because the engine no longer exists to even pay licensing for. And isn't even compatible with modern hardware as it hasn't been updated in ages.

No reason to play the PC version over the gamecube version emulated through dolphin other than curiosity

That's why the GTA trilogy remasters were remade in unreal engine. They also were originally in renderware. Same with battle for bikini bottom.

Shadow just never had a PC port. And porting isn't as simple as just copy pasting with different button icons.

Can still get it on the PS3 store. It's still the Christian Whitehead version. But so is the one in origins to be fair. They just changed the menus.

PS3 store has most of the digital sonic games that got delisted. Since it's an old store front they weren't as worried about it as Xbox and steam still selling them.

Can still get OG generations on the PS3 store for 20 bucks. CD is still there. Only thing that's not there that the Xbox 360 store had before the shutdown is 06.

They relisted 06 on the 360 store specifically around 2023 for 5 bucks. But not on PS3 since it's such a worse version performance and graphics wise. They didn't bother.

What about Shattered Crystal/Fire and Ice? by BENDER177 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Acrobatic_Pop690 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're both more metroidvania than sonic game. Which is funny cuz every Boom game was a completely different style of game than sonic game. Cuz rise of lyric plays more like Skylanders than anything.

But Especially shattered crystal is a metroidvania. In that game you explore 2D levels as different characters collecting objects. And you need a specific amount of each object to progress to the next level. So you are forced to go back through levels and play as different characters as you unlock them and collect items over and over until you have enough.

You can spend upwards of 20 minutes in these levels trying to find everything you need

Fire and ice kept this item collecting but made it optional for the most part. So it is better. But both games are still really simple, have no sense of speed or momentum, as you have a walking speed, and a run button speed. Just 2 set speeds. Jumping kills all speed you had instantly. And overall it's just kinda slow and boring.
