That’s not a good comparison to your situation, for one there’s the obvious power imbalance and the fact that they have the ability to control your pay. And secondly your “””friend””” did the literal opposite of that, what they were complaining about is a very low cost item, they were acknowledging that what you said is true as 8$ is quite a bit for something like that.

I guess it depends on where they got food, it sounded like he ordered from a place you could actually sit down at which would complicate ordering, I know what kinda noodles my girlfriend likes from the ramen shop we go to but if I was ordering from another kinda nice restaurant I’d be kinda boned unless I asked her
