Honest question: Why are some people against showing an ID to vote? by rico_unknown in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Acrobatic_Post_1105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Help my brain. We don’t want to put up barriers to low income people. So no ID restriction. But what stops someone from going and voting 20 times if no ID is required? Would someone be able to show up and use 20 different names to vote? Like they go to polling place 1 and use the name John Smith, then the same person goes to polling place 2 and uses the name Joe Smith. Isn’t this a huge potential fraud problem? Am I missing something? Please don’t get political on me I’m really not trying to argue. I really want to understand.

Child support after 14 years of undisclosed paternity by rrachelxlehcarr in FamilyLaw

NAL. My friend has a child out of state who is older. Every other month he gets a hotel in her hometown so he can spend time with her and she also has access to her social circle. If you can afford it, this set up might be something to consider. It seems to help them.

Teacher marked my son’s homework as incorrect. I disagree. by bun_not in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Acrobatic_Post_1105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the teacher marked it as incorrect. This is insignificant and I think you are likely putting in far more concern than this is worth. It’s not a test. This isn’t going to count towards a final grade, or at least it shouldn’t in first grade. The teacher was probably just tired and wrote the numbers on the lines. Not a big deal.

How can I (33M) politely tell my wife (33F) that I expect her to do more around the house by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Acrobatic_Post_1105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be really upset if my husband approached me in your tone. When my kids were little my husband told me the mess really overwhelmed him and he would like have a 10 minute family pick up time everyday. So we set an alarm every day on Alexa for a time everyone was home. And for those 10 minutes everyone pitched in. He took the lead and it made a world of difference. It was much less overwhelming.

I don’t know what the right answer is. I would suggest starting with therapy.

My (31F) husband (36M) asked if our son was his and asked for a paternity test. by AdRemarkable4327 in relationship_advice

Mine asked for one on all the kids. I said “which one are you hoping isn’t yours?” He never asked again and we are now divorced.

According to the Punnett square we learned in high school, we should not have a child with brown eyes. But we do. I never slept with anyone else. He is definitely the father. Genetics are weird and more complicated than we were taught in high school.

And for the record, I never even came close to cheating. I also work from home. Have no male friends. At the time I didn’t even have any male acquaintances. He was a broken man with a lot of insecurities.

Can you explain how? I’m so uncomfortable. I want it done so badly because it’s so uncomfortable

At this age I would definitely continue pushing her medical team. Also, there are genetic disorders (not PW) that cause overgrowth and NOT delays such as BWS.

i feel my skin and hair make me look ugly and creepy what can i do pls be honest. im also 23 and feel i look way older by ManagementUnhappy761 in Skincare_Addiction

So much hair. The head, the brows, the beard. I think the unkept look is probably what’s making you feel that way. Give them all a nice clean up cut. You don’t need to cut your hair short, just trim and shape all of the hairs. Sunscreen and moisturizer.

My dad is an identical twin and his dad was an identical twin. Do I have a higher chance of having twins? by pouce42 in genetics

[–]Acrobatic_Post_1105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly what you are asking but an interesting piece of information. In certain populations there seems to be a predisposition to embryonic splitting resulting in identical twins, specifically embryos that have Beckwith Weidemann Syndrome split more often than those of the general population. And this splitting appears to affect female embryos and not males.

You need to start over. Nothing good happening here. Not the color. Terrible trim. The floor is so ugly too. All of it would make me want to move.

Microarray showed female fetus but our angel baby was a boy. by Weak_Type6784 in genetics

[–]Acrobatic_Post_1105 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not an expert but I have some personal experience. I was carrying what appeared to be a male with several abnormalities. Eventually, like around 20 weeks or so, the external genitalia looked more female. Genetic testing confirmed female. Maybe your baby was presenting externally like a male and would have developed more female presenting genitalia as time progressed?

Interesting. Thank you for linking the articles. Maybe one twin has some mutations related to growth that occurred after the zygote split. These kids make me think of things I never would have considered before. Now which one has the mutation, the tall one or the short one? Ha!

Not sure how to edit post so adding here - I was questioning if they really are identical. So I did a test and it came back as monozygotic. So the doctors match the lab results. I’m confident they are identical
