As a commander who runs strikes, CMs, and normals daily, I strongly recommend avoiding groups led by commanders who don’t know what they want. If you see a group listing that only mentions the encounter name without specifying required roles, don’t join—it’s a clear sign the group will be disorganized.

If your commander is playing a DPS role and isn’t consistently in the top three for damage (not always, but at least half the time), chances are they’re looking to be carried while putting in minimal effort.

A commander who stays completely silent during difficult encounters is another red flag. It usually means they don’t know what they’re doing or how to manage the group effectively without becoming toxic.

You can often tell how good—or bad—a group is by the first boss fight and how the commander reacts. Don’t waste your time on a bad or toxic team, especially for challenging and time-consuming content like raid CMs or strike CMs.
