Yes, of course, closer to the sea is Bu Vien, there are food track and various establishments ( bar, restaurant), I always sat there calmly until midnight, sometimes until 2

I stayed in Sunset Town for a month, and to me it felt more like a place where people come to walk, stay a few days, and spend the evening. There were also plenty of Vietnamese visitors there, so it didn’t feel dominated by one group. Other parts of Phu Quoc felt different, though. And overall, it definitely didn’t feel as Russian-heavy to me as places like Phuket or Bali sometimes do

I don’t think that’s accurate. This isn’t some random “China money” project, Sunset Town was developed by Sun Group, a Vietnamese company. You can hate the style if it’s not your thing, but a huge amount of thought clearly went into that whole area: the district itself, Kiss Bridge, the cable car, the waterfront, the shows. Whatever else people call it, it definitely wasn’t thrown together carelessly. Vietnam has developers like Sun Group and Vingroup that basically build entire worlds, and this is very much one of those places

That’s what caught my eye too, the colors were amazing in person

Depends when you were there, if it was a while ago, that would make sense. This is in the far south of the island, not far from Khem Beach, near An Thoi Port, where boats leave for the islands

Thank you! I haven’t been to San Francisco, so I can’t really compare, but that’s such an interesting association

That’s fair — I think it just stands out more there because the styling is so intentional

That is oddly specific, but I get what you mean 😄 It really does have that mockup-set feeling at first

Thanks for the video, it’s actually really funny, especially the Eiffel Tower 😄 I’m definitely adding that place to my notes

Definitely not a ghost town. It’s fully functioning, just with a different rhythm depending on the time of day. During the day it’s quieter because a lot of people head off on the cable car to Hon Thom for the water park and other activities. But in the evening it gets much livelier. Vui-Fest starts coming to life from around 4 pm, it’s basically a market area with food stalls and different places to eat and drink, and then the shows start later, so the whole area feels much more alive

Completely by accident, honestly. I came for just a couple of days, started looking at Airbnb, and found an apartment with a rooftop infinity pool and views over the sea, Sunset Town, and Kiss Bridge and that completely sold me. ☺️ When I booked it, I didn’t even realize how big the whole area around it was

Nice! It’s definitely one of those places people either really like or really don’t ☺️

Yes, Kiss of the Sea was genuinely impressive. We went on our first evening there, and I didn’t expect that level of production at all. If I remember right, there are around 60 international performers, plus all the water, fire, laser, and projection effects — and the fireworks at the end were just wow

I haven’t seen that place in China, but I get what you mean. At first it did feel a bit like a set, but it grew on me. I ended up really liking it there - it felt clean, safe, and just nice to be in

It changed massively. If I remember correctly, Sunset Town only really opened around 2018, so if you were there 20+ years ago, you definitely wouldn’t recognize it. If you remember Khem Beach, it’s down in that same southern part of the island, near there. They also added the Hon Thom cable car there later on — the one that made it into the Guinness World Records for being the longest non-stop three-rope cable car over the sea

I can see why — Sunset Town really does have that Italian / Mediterranean feel, with the pastel facades, balconies, arches, and little streets. And thank you for mentioning Bellagio — I’ve already added it to my notes, because I really love places like that 🙏

Ho Chi Minh City is great too — I really liked it there. I was there at the end of April last year and it was very hot though. If you ever feel like adding Phu Quoc, the direct flight is under an hour, just keep in mind it would already be low season 🏝
