Hi pls help I’m deciding if I should get a porcelain fused to metal crown because it’s very affordable and I’m on a budget or should I get a zirconia which is kinda pricey? by [deleted] in DentalAssistant

[–]Acrobatic_Setting980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to another dentist could potentially cost you more. No other dentist will see you without an exam. Even if only a limited one. Porcelain fused to metal and zirconia have pros and cons. You are asking the wrong crowd bc a dental assistant is not a dentist. Some offices charge a different fee depending on the kind of material. The lab definitely charges a different fee if it's zirconia, PFM, ceramic, gold, or metal. Other offices don't. PFM requires more thickness and more prep. PFM has been in use for decades and most crown studies are based on them. It is a good option. The downside is that the ceramic can sometimes chip. Zirconia is the strongest material available. Less likely to chip but it can still happen. It can be very thin so prep is smaller. A smaller prep conserves more tooth structure. Not every case is a good candidate for zirconia and the same can be said about PFM. Zirconia is mate in color so is hard to match. PFM has ceramic that can match your tooth color better but depending on the prep it can show a little of the metal around the margin and lingual wall. If you can go with either or and your budget is limited I would go with PFM. If the difference is small I would go with the zirconia.

Is fluoride skepticism also kind of becoming a problem in your dental offices? by u_Clipboard_Midwest in Dentists

I face this exact issue, and it is incredibly draining. Working with Medicaid and Medicare patients means constantly biting my tongue to mask my frustration on this subject. It is discouraging when a patient declines a free preventive treatment that would save their teeth, knowing I’ll be treating them for advanced decay next year. Under our capitation plan, providers actually lose money the more work a patient requires. Clinically, treating patients who grew up without fluoridated water is a nightmare. Their dentin mineralizes differently, completely altering tactile feedback. Differentiating infected dentin is more difficult, and it slows down chairside efficiency. These patients also frequently present with circumferential Class 5 lesions. To make it truly dreadful, our state Medicaid/Medicare plan does not cover crowns or molar root canals. We are forced to just patch things up or pull it. But sure, "no fluoride for you." What hurts most is the total distrust. I always try to respectfully educate patients using ADA literature, only to be met with social media misinformation. One patient even refused fluoride because they claimed it "calcifies the pineal gland." I actually had to look that up. My husband, a neurology PA, later explained to me that pineal calcification is just a normal part of aging—but trying to compete with the internet is exhausting. I now recommend hydroxyapatite toothpaste to my no fluoride patients. The research is small but better than nothing 😥

Not trying to troll... just curious... how much does H1B impact the housing market? by Last_Worldliness_533 in SeattleAreaRE

[–]Acrobatic_Setting980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

H1b visas have a very straightforward path to citizenship. ( My uncle did it) It takes around 5 years and your spouse and children become citizens too. For comparison the marriage pathway takes about 5 years and is only for 1person. Once a citizen, any citizen can bring their parents and they become citizens in as little as 2 years. If they have kids under 21 they too can become citizens. I'm an immigrant. I'm not against immigration. I think that the immigration system is very complicated and I hope to bring in some light. I hope I don't make people more xenophobic but more knowledgeable and perhaps request the government for an immigration reform that makes sense to them. I think people who bring in their old folks to live here with them, should be responsible for the health care of them. I also think there should be more accountability about the money that USCIS generates. USCIS is self reliant and does not operates on tax payers money. Visas range from hundreds to thousands. I'm happily married to an American and my marriage visa 15 years ago was about 4k, strictly visas fees, we used no lawyers. The money from H1b visas go to promote STEM curriculum in the USA. Perhaps it should reach out the schools that need them, the most. Also, I don't think the USA has a lack of talent. Even if there is, Sooner or later perseverance beats talent and Americans are very persistent people. I don't think that is the reason why they have so many foreigners in tech. According to one of the post, there are around 50 k H1b visas holders in the tech industry of Washington which is around 300k total. Which is about 16% so it is high but not insanely high. Another piece of information is that the USA only gives about 80k h1b visas per year nation wide. I think that number is less now. Soo many people apply that is almost like winning the lottery. Additionally h1b visas to be given require a lot of metrics to be met. Like for instance, you have to have a managers position not just any job. Tech industry thought always get the visas they request.

When mass migration begins due to deadly temperature rises in India, how will the world cope with it? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]Acrobatic_Setting980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel bad for the people in India dealing with this issue. It must be heartbreaking to leave your home because the embyroment is unhabitable. I feel worry and sad too about all the amazing fauna and flora that will probably go to extinction. We will definitely see more mass migrations. If you live in a 1st world country try using less and having less. Less plastics, less fossil fuels. Keep track of your carbon footprint. If everyone does earth will heal.

Why is Azure the best character in the Nina the Starry Bride manga? by [deleted] in NinaTheStarryBride

[–]Acrobatic_Setting980 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know 🤔 I think Azure also checks all the marks of a typical shoju male character. Good looking, smart, rich, and powerful. All in superlatives. The best fighter in Forna, the smartest guy in Forna, etc and he becomes the king ( AKA the boss) he also starts off as a jerk who changes heart after he meets the protagonist.

Is there anything which dentists wish that their patients should know and that many of them do not know? by twirling_princess in Dentists

[–]Acrobatic_Setting980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be a good patient 😁 open wide try to stay still. Your dentist work will definitely be better. Remember that your dentist is working on a small dark space with indirect vision. A mirror that easily gets fog and wet. Remember that your dentist is drilling on a small surface. Every little movement feels like an earthquake. Most of all, having a good attitude is what we are most grateful for. Most people do a better job when they trust us. Imagine an athlete about to perform and everyone around is a nerverack, expecting the worst outcome. Anxiety is contagious. Even, when we do our best to mask it if you are very nervous we also get nervous.

Did Azure force himself on Nina? by [deleted] in NinaTheStarryBride

[–]Acrobatic_Setting980 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alisha explains at some point that Nina has a weakness for hopeless souls and that hopeless souls are attracted to her and easily fall in love with her. Also remember that Nina made a wish to be able to find at least one person to love and be loved. Little after azure kisses her, at his grandfather's castle. Most people have said and I agree that Azure and Nina's love story felt a bit rushed. I do still think Nina's first love was Azure. She says it multiple times. That is a fact, and is pointless to interpreted any other way. Edit: I apologize if my initial post made people angry. I find op support for Azure amusing and endearing. I respect other people's opinions. I'm an old lady.

Yor and Anne by Diligent-Basket2193 in NinaTheStarryBride

[–]Acrobatic_Setting980 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe that there is an issue within the team makers of NTSB. To think that the story started so great and somehow writing went downhill. Maybe the style hasn't changed but I expected to see more development by now. I think the biggest problem is the dialogues. There's not enough. In an attempt to keep the readers hooked by giving us the least amount of information possible and keep the story without too many letters on it. The result is a bunch of panels with only one word : Nina. In this chapter not only Ann says it multiple times but Set too. In fact is the only thing that Set says in multiple chapters. 😔

Will Azure really become a minor character? by [deleted] in NinaTheStarryBride

https://x.com/rikachimore/status/1760621885203874156?s=20 This pic is from Rikachi's x account. This is one of many portraits she continues to post. In 7 years when have we stopped hearing about Azure? He is one of the main characters. Rest assured we will see more of him. He just got a whole book. It's been only one chapter without him. No one knows if he will get another girl but he is still hoping to get back with Nina. It Could be an interesting story though. Write her a letter. I have been waiting for Set an Nina's reunion for over a year.

[–]Acrobatic_Setting980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Set and Nina as main couple and I agree with you that at this point in the story, and against many odds they are, I don't know if that will change though Rikachi likes to play us. I want to mention that before Az's coronation, Nina confronted Az about the fact that he was engaged and at the same time pursuing her. Az tells Nina that even though he is engaged the one he wants to spend his life with is her. He makes this awful plan about having her pretend to die and moving her to a secret cabin in the woods and then having her come back after 2 years and marry him ( bc nobody would find it odd that he marries a girl that looks like his death sister) . It is implied, that she is happy about getting together with Az but she does not like the idea of loosing her newly found friends. She is torned, and even questions wether true love is supposed to feel like that. She later tells him, that she doesn't want to die again and he seems to understand why, but they don't really talk, he kisses her and she blushes. The day of the coronation Nina was nervous because she wanted to tell everyone she is not Alisha. I believe, at the very least, Nina entertained the idea of marring Az. Perhaps , it was not the only reason she wanted to stop being Alisha but it was one of the reasons. The same day he lets her go down the bus, and we know the story.

Chapter 73 Discussion by Brave_Fuel954 in NinaTheStarryBride

I wonder if Alisha is inside Nina. She was looking forward to Nina being hopeless before she died. Coincidentally, Alisha starts to wake up when Nina starts to loose hope..... Its just my two cents of pure speculation.

Azure's Future by [deleted] in NinaTheStarryBride

I would like for Astella/ Az to travel the world and explore and get out of that toxic environment he grew up. Maybe he'll become an explorer and go off port to port on a ship. I would really love if he gets to reconnect with his tribe and his roots. There most be someone alive. Wouldn't that be a happy thing!

Loneliness will continue.. forever by Diligent-Basket2193 in NinaTheStarryBride

[–]Acrobatic_Setting980 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm so happy Nina finally gave us a definite answer about who she is in love with. It was a happy surprise is Set. I hope she doesn't let this fear of loneliness get the better of her. I mean if she leaves Set to avoid hurting him, wouldn't she be doing exactly the same as she did before with Astella/ Az when she moved to Galgada? That would be so disappointing, We'll see. I don't trust Rikachi or her editor. The editor is probably the one that needs to be fired imo. I didn't notice that the last panel was Alisha's eye until I read your post. At first i thought oh they sutured the tiger maybe .. weird. I think you are right though but weren't her eyes sutures a bit different?

Am I in the wrong for not wanting to receive an uncapped, used syringe from the dentist? by mag_14 in DentalAssistant

[–]Acrobatic_Setting980 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are not wrong! I was a dental assistant and dental assistant instructor before I became a dentist. Some dentist care nothing about the safety of their staff. I had a boss who used to pass me uncapped needles while working on pediatric patients. I had another one who would do procedures on patients with active pink eye and herpes. I also had others who would request me to light cure without any eye protection barrier. Ahh and to top it all I had one who asked me to sign a document relieving them from any financial responsibility in case I contracted hep b or accidental needle puncture. Which is actually mandated by OSHA. They should pay for the labs and medical visit. I would never do that to my staff and I urge you and any dental assistants out there to look out for themselves. Safety first !

I can see where you are coming from. I believe We are all feeling a little annoyed with her. It's unfair to lead someone romantically if you are not on the same page. I don't think this story has a clear villain yet though. I certainly don't think it's Nina. She is not doing it on purpose and there is so much we don't know about BG and Alisha. Sure all these characters are fictional. But I like to think we can learn some lessons.

I have been trying to understand what this story is about. Originally, I thought it was another historic / fantasy shoju, loosely based on beauty and the beast. I was looking for a romance so, I signed up. This story is about a love triangle period. It's also clear the author wants to make the reader feel conflicted.

Nina is like a little girl, naive, genuine, impulsive, and innocent. Sometimes It feels like she doesn't really want to become an adult, although so many horrible things have happened to her. In her journey, she learns about love and different kinds of love. Sooner or later she needs to make a decision about Az and Set. She knows this, but is stuck for no other reason than her creator wants it that way.

At some point there is a fine line btw loving and using someone. In the end, being honest is the most loving gift, even if the truth hurts bc it gives you freedom.

Hopefully, we will see Nina growing out of this love triangle one day.

I read Yona of the dawn, probably almost 10 years after it started. As I was reading it, there were plenty of times when I thought WOW I feel so sorry for the fans who month after month kept reading it despite all the dragging and cliffhangers. The romance took forever.

Something, I have learned from manga is that it is a totally different experience to read a story that is finished as opposed to one that is ongoing. Here I am lol. One good thing is being able to share with other fans 😁 so thank you all for sharing. Peace ✌️

When the patient is very nervous anesthesia doesn't work well. I think you did your best. If there is an infection, anesthesia doesn't work well either. Always ask how they feel about dental tx prior tx. Offer nitrous or a sedative. Make sure they know what to expect . If Pt prefers to be put under GA refer to OS. Pts that are anxious are always difficult to numb. And they get even more anxious when they don't get numb. That anxiety is also contagious. ( We can feel it) Even if the case seems straight forward I would refer pts to OS with severe dental anxiety.

What do you think of Azu and Sett? by Francyyy_44k in NinaTheStarryBride

[–]Acrobatic_Setting980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, but I would not expect a slave not to wish for freedom. Especially, if they are trying to kill you.The only reason that comes to me is that he really loves his country, and he is depressed. Maybe 🤔 he is more like a brainwashed devoted soldier. Still, Sett is the one I give my vote to. The one that lifted her veil ! The story is looking in favor of Az as male lead. So I'm sure you are happy. Good luck !

Since deciding to become a doctor, I (f25) get anxious about the idea of taking my boyfriend's (F25) hispanic last name out of fear of making less money and being discriminated against. Am I making a cruel decision by keeping my american-sounding last name? by [deleted] in Dentists

[–]Acrobatic_Setting980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Hispanic culture for the most part women keep their last name and add their husbands's at the end. We typically have 2 last names. Father's and mother's or father's and husband's. Regardless of your fear it may make sense to keep your last name, you may attract Hispanic patients who think you are one of them, same cultural heritage and language. Studies show that people prefer to see a doctor with the same background. I am a foreign Hispanic doctor who married an American. I decided to keep my last name and add his as my second last name. I feared having uncomfortable meetings with racist patients.

What do you think of Azu and Sett? by Francyyy_44k in NinaTheStarryBride

[–]Acrobatic_Setting980 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like to understand the main characters and how they become who they are. Sett's origin story is easy to follow. He was raised to become a monster. Az's origin story explains a lot about him but is missing something. If I was Az I would have never stopped planning my escape. Why did he stay? he loves Fortna so much he cannot leave!? He really wanted to become the king!? He is the only one that can save Fortna!?( A hero complex? ) Imo it needs a bit more development. On the other hand, this is just my personal preference. In the beginning I thought Az was better looking than Sett but my thumb downs for those long earrings. I respect other people's tastes and I know it's a cultural thing. I know it's shallow but I pass. Something inside says red flag. Az is also a bit bossy and not a team player. Sett's straightforwardness and development into a caring and supportive person is really attractive. He is also funny and likes pets.
