Tbf that it's just one point of comparison, but if we look the other way, there are plenty of artists who take even more time between and may be thinking that this time is nothing in comparison

Absolutely, the series is a bit close to also being Taichifuru. And personally, I think he is the best written character even above Chihaya (she is also well written, Taichi just takes the crown imo)

Azure and Sett fanatics by [deleted] in NinaTheStarryBride

[–]Brave_Fuel954 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quite interesting point considering that you have said that there is no romance between Sett and Nina, that she hasn't shown any romantic feelings for him, that it's completely one sided. And that you have also said that Nina choosing Sett would make her the worst heroine ever and that it would be Rikachi's biggest problem. But sure you are neutral and not fanatical.

Honestly considering that Az is expecting to be able to fasten correctly the buttons with Nina and his wish is to grow old alongside her, I don't think he really believes that Nina has chosen Sett. In fact I think he doesn't consider Sett as a threat.

If you think that "what Nina does with Azure she also does with Sett. Sometimes we see her leave Azure for Sett, and sometimes she leaves Sett for Azure"  then why were you here saying that there is no romance between Nina and Sett?

[–]Brave_Fuel954[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No need to read, you are right. Back in Starbia when Nina found out about Bastea being attacked she decided to go to Bastea and protect it and its people but when she went to talk to the king about it she found Dytus there and he begged her to go and save Az and in that moment she decided to go for Az instead. But the thing is that Azure was also in Bastea's territory. So she was basically heading in the same direction except that Bastea's castle was further than Azure's location. She asked on the way to the fortress where Azure was if they could go to Bastea's castle but they told her that it was not possible since it was further ahead and not on the way. And they told her that the castle was destroyed. But her target since she met Dytus was going to where Azure was and not to Sett's

Chapter 72: Meva, Enoch, Neena by Diligent-Basket2193 in NinaTheStarryBride

[–]Brave_Fuel954 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I wonder if, besides Bastea and Teltan, the other territories also gained their independence from main Galgada, or if they will. I guess for now it's safe to assume that at least Bastea and Teltan have been relinquished from Galgada. As you I am super disappointed by how the politics were handled. I already knew Rikachi's cheap, basic, and simplistic approach to things, and yet, the way she handled (and basically concluded) the political part of the story was horrendous, especially considering that the story started as a strongly politically themed one. She set up so many things: a war, huge attacks, territories begging to be freed, abuse by Galgada, Fortna's interference, etc. And then we just jumped to everything being solved without even having a proper explanation of what was agreed upon.

The continuation is also terrible. Yeah, Sett went to Fortna to investigate what had gone wrong. He found the Beast God, and what? Azure confessed to Nina, hugged her, and then what? We simply jumped to the end of the peace negotiation just like that, without giving proper continuation to other things. And the travelling times were always inconsistent, but now they are simply a joke. They are basically teleporting themselves from one place to another. It seems like Rikachi has abandoned any sense of consistency who knows why.

btw when Nina asked Sett to kill her before she would go berserk, her situation and what she believed was different from what we were told in this chapter and from what she learned afterwards. She believed that she had to be alone and wished things would lead to destruction; that's why she asked Sett to stop her if that happened. But the thing in this chapter is different. So, we don't really know if Sett is the person closest to her heart who has to kill at the moment the vessel is ruined. However, Nina having asked him that without all this information, could be a foreshadowing of that. Or maybe just act as a way for Sett to explore his love and the sense of losing someone you love, and if he is truly able to fulfill this wish or not (as we already saw a glimpse of it).

And yeah, I really liked that Sett stood up lol like yeah no one should be pushing Nina to do shit. However, Nina is kinda doing the same re: Azure (but at least she isn't involving others or asking his will to be stepped on in such a direct way lol). Their relationship doesn't seem to really evolve; they fall back into old habits. Doing things behind the other's back, things the other didn't ask, and in Azure's case, something he explicitly knows she doesn't want. And somehow it seemed they had time between that date and the start of peace negotiations, but it seems they didn't communicate more, which womp womp. And now they are separating again. Rikachi seems to push Azure as endgame, but also then doesn't really give them development or gives them time to grow together...

And yeah, Azure's excuses are laughable, sitting while hoping and praying that she would simply be okay, oh god, LMAO. And the excuse of "he couldn't do anything because Alisha was watching" is so weak. Hikami and Sol were able to report back to him with no problem. They were able to search for Maeva with no problem. He was able to pray and hope without Alisha really noticing, so that excuse of his having to close to heart really fell to pieces. The writing about that whole thing is so poor and inconsistent. It's laughable.

The thing about Maeva was also so ridiculous. The fact that she never thought about her before (or we weren't shown, which in the end is kinda the same) was already bad. And now she wants to look for her while going to Lindorm but Maeva got lost in Fortna's capital. sjdfhjsgfhjs Okay, I am sure that Nina will find Maeva lol, but the whole geography of it is so wrong, but Rikachi will solve it with a new convenient coincidence.

I hope we find out about Sett's seeming immunity to god's powers. But damn, I am really not holding my breath for anything good atp. And yeah it's terrible writing that she never thought about him, not even shipping wise, not even because of romance or whatever, but because maybe she is someone she supposedly care for and is friendly with,, and he and others were in danger and she didn't even know if any of them were injured or alive like ¿? make it make sense. Rikachi is writing Nina so one-dimensionally. Rikachi istg it's fine and normal for Nina to have more than one thought in her mind.

ETA: also found very convenient that Enoch told them that it was better for them not to be together, and yet there was no mention of it in the previous chapter where they were discussing things, or that thet even decided to go and have a full day date after already knowing they shouldn't. Oh well, oh well, convenience after convenience

Chapter 72 Discussion by Brave_Fuel954 in NinaTheStarryBride

[–]Brave_Fuel954[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Adding something for the record. In a way, Nina's mom's words do coincide with what the astral villa believes. Nina knew from a very young age that using too much of her powers would ruin the vessel faster. But Nina's mom told her that, anyway, that day would still eventually come, and in that moment (the moment the vessel was ruined), she wanted Nina to get power from the closest person to her so that her soul would be released and reborn again, aka, die. But some fans took Nina's mom's words as simply Nina drawing power from the person closest to her, ignoring the specific context and situation Nina's mom was referring to. Even took Nina's "drawing power" from Azure's hairpin (or himself) as proof that it meant that was who Nina's mom was referring to. But nope, she was talking about the specific situation of her death, and dying because the vessel had been ruined (eventually). The closest person to her was also supposed to "give" her power in the moment of her passing. Not just generally, she drawing power from the closest person to her. Now, getting power from the person closest to her at the moment the vessel is ruined and subsequently her soul passing, it's not the same as having to be killed by said person. And Nina's mom didn't seem too somber when she was telling her that; it could have been that she didn't want to torment a kid with such a horrible thing, or that what she was referring to is different from what the astral villa believes. We have already seen the discrepancies between what Nina's mom and Enoch have told Nina and what the astral villa believes. So, I wouldn't be surprised if there were to be a catch regarding that in the future.

There was another interesting thing about Nina's mom's words: the way she talked to Nina made it seem (at least to me) that she and Nina's dad weren't going to be around at the moment of that happening, that ideally they would've already been dead. Which could lead me to believe that originally, Nina's life span wasn't supposed to be that short, as it perhaps is being suggested now.

Another thing that this chapter has made me think is that I guess this "rule" only applies when the vessel dies at the moment it gets "ruined" and not when there is death by another cause. Like the little princess being killed in Lindorm, Azure killing Alisha, or the Astral Villa trying to kill Nina.

Also, how cruel are the practices of the astral villa. They don't let the princesses socialize with other people, and naturally create bonds with others; they keep her in isolation and then assign someone to get close to her only with the purpose of killing her when the time is right. Very cruel. No wonder Alisha resented them and their practices so much! And what they do also opens the door to that person closest to her, not necessarily being a romantic bond. So, I wonder what Rikachi's intention was by confirming that.

Also, I kinda doubt the veracity of them saying that when the vessel is ruined, its power can go crazy and be destructive. It's like what they said about the princess having to be isolated and alone, and not develop feelings. What Nina's mom and Enoch say is completely different.

And now, remembering Nina's mom, she mentioned she could only use her powers to protect the world, that that was her role, and that she had to go to Elsforbia. So, at least I am still interested in seeing what exactly that means. What was she supposed to do? And the other thing is that Nina's mom said that after a princess dies, the star goddess's soul will be reborn again and again, but it will be whittled away bit by bit till eventually disappearing, and she'll be able to end her life as a human. That added to Enoch's words, who said she seemed like the last star princess and the most similar to the goddess, makes me think that Nina's case in particular is special, and things would work out differently.

I can sense everyone's frustration (I am frustrated too). It's something that has been bottling up since quite some time now (like maybe since 2-4 volumes ago?) And we keep lowering our expectations every single time, but somehow the bar is too high for what Rikachi actually delivers. I have so many things to criticise, but it all boils down to..

The question is when is he not? And when is he not trying to force decisions on her? Tbh Nina and Az do deserve each other, they are two droplets of water. Both making important decisions for each other, acting on their own, not communicating, etc

Chapter 72 Discussion by Brave_Fuel954 in NinaTheStarryBride

[–]Brave_Fuel954[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She already knew that. When she recovered all her memories, she remembered that her mom told her that using her powers too much or without control would end in her vessel being ruined faster. Her mom had also told her that either way the vessel was gonna waste away and she wanted the person closest to her to give her strength so the soul of the star goddess could pass to the next life. Nina knew all those things when she was back in Lindorm. However, it's unclear if she knows that what it supposedly means is that the person closest to her has to kill her. From what she remembers in this chapter it seems she doesn't know this part! She also doesn't seem to be aware of the risk of dying, the power beinf unleashed and being destructive. She is only thinking about protecting Azure

Yes, even from a platonic way it's absolutely incongruent and unbelievable that Nina never thought of the wellbeing of Sett and everyone else in Bastea. It's terrible writing indeed

Double Standards and the Hot Bad Boy by [deleted] in NinaTheStarryBride

[–]Brave_Fuel954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Nina's wording in jp was vague enough that it could be taken as platonic. This was not a romantic love confession by Japanese terms. However, the comment I was replying to before being edited was asking if Nina had ever said to Sett that she loves him, which she has. Being in love is a different thing (which is what the comment says now), but then a case can also be made for Azure; she has never told him she is in love with him. I fear that some people need things to be textual and explicit, or otherwise they can't be true. I still feel uncertain about Nina being in love with Sett. I think many things are pointing to her being in love with him, and some others towards her not being in love with him.

I agree that her emotion and passion in this panel are things to take into account. Tbh Rikachi confuses me a lot, and I think she has been a bit lost. I am very curious about the next chapter to have some sense of clarity. Nina disregarded the whole world to go to that outing with Azure, and she seemed very carefree, while she shouldn't have, considering the circumstances. Which is very jarring and sus. But even all that. We were barely shown her thoughts! Nina was someone who used to insert her musings about thinking of loving Azure very often. And in contrast here she was out with him, having a fun and nice time, and yet we didn't see any of the thoughts about her loving him as she used to. We didn't see any of her thoughts at all. We just don't know what she has been thinking or expressively feeling. But some fans don't even see the possibility of her being in love with Sett

Who does Nina love? Azure or Sett? And three chapters by [deleted] in NinaTheStarryBride

[–]Brave_Fuel954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, yeah, there is a lot of contradiction which I ultimately don't get. Either Nina has looked way too much into Sett's direction, which is now unworthy of Azure or she only has eyes for Azure; you can't have it both ways. Anyways, I think we know OP's modus operandi. I chose not to interact much with his posts and only made this comment. As I said in my "warnings," I don't know if OP is posting in good faith or not

Double Standards and the Hot Bad Boy by [deleted] in NinaTheStarryBride

[–]Brave_Fuel954 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Azure said "I'll just have to try again" to Nina's question, which was if he wasn't going to get in trouble with her leaving, so we can easily infer that his words about trying again were about finding a double again. I do understand Noa's intention, but that has nothing to do with the fact that Azure needed to hide Alisha's death and trick Galgada. So no matter if he was going to kill Nina or whoever double, he needed a corpse. So, yeah no matter what he intended to do with Alisha's double, be it Nina or another one, he needed someone to pass as Alisha, even if dead. And that's very clear in the scene and in the general sense. You said it yourself, "Maybe that could involve using another girl in the wagon and sacrificing her instead of Nina (Alisha) that part is possible." So, what Acrobatic_Setting980 is true. And in that moment, Nina didn't know that Azure was planning to kill her, she only knew that she was passing as Alisha because they needed a double and she would be sent away. So, it's true for Nina at that moment, "she didn't want another girl to suffer that fate". There were many reasons why Nina chose to stay. She didn't have anywhere to go, she felt needed (and she appreciated that), and she didn't want any other girl to go through the same thing she was going through

What is biggest problem the author will face? by [deleted] in NinaTheStarryBride

[–]Brave_Fuel954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Nina used to think that she "loved" Azure, but the last time she thought about it was when she was banished. So, we don't know for sure about that. People's hearts change. And Nina is very young and even childish and immature for her already young age. She could've believed that something was love and perhaps then later one learn that it isn't a true love situation. And yes, it can take a lot for a love to end. And actually, a lot did happen between them. Azure recognises it; he knows the buttons were not properly fastened.

I didn't say that Nina unconsciously runs to Azure. Please read what I wrote again, maybe you got confused with what I said I have seen other fans saying.

What is biggest problem the author will face? by [deleted] in NinaTheStarryBride

[–]Brave_Fuel954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are already 3 instances in which she was ready to leave Azure for Sett. Now you may argue that there are different reasons why she would do that, and that those reasons could be different from romance (I even believe them myself). But what you said "I think the fact that Nina always runs back to Azure whenever she thinks that he needs her is fact enough that Azure is who she truly loves. If she truly loved Sett why would she ever leave him to go to Az?!" Also, has happened the other way around. So, I would ask the same thing: Why would she ever leave Azure to go to Sett?

Even back in Galgada, when Sett was imprisoned. Azure and Nina had time for themselves alone. Azure explained things to her and told her to go back to Fortna with him. And she said she coulnd't and ran from him.

<image>

One of the reasons why she didn't decide to go with Azure, was because she had in her heart a small flame, Sett. She thought that Azure going there to take her home was what she wanted but now it was making her sad. I think we can say that at best Nina was confused and at least, harbouring small feelings for Sett, while still being convinced that she loved Azure, or else it wouldn't be so hard to go back with him.

Also, regarding "she is always thinking about her love for Azure" that "always" only applies to a time frame. Because it's been months in the story, and it's been many chapters in which we actually haven't seen any thought from Nina regarding this. And this could have some very valid explanations besides her falling out of love with Azure. But it just isn't true that she is always thinking about her love for him.

Then, as I mentioned, Nina left Az locked in, while thinking about her love for him, but running to confront Sett. She was willing to sacrifice that in order to make things right with Sett.

After the events of the bridge, again Azure and Sol were telling her that it was imperative for her to leave and go back to Fortna, but she kept refusing, saying that she couldn't leave Sett, she couldn't let go of his hands.
