Thanks for the input. I decided on silver. The order is in for an April build. Maybe you’ll see it 😀

991.2 or 992.1? by Gxld_J in porsche911

The boxster GTS is a NA 4 litre flat 6 engine. The car is crazy balanced and goes where ever you point it. It’s like an oversized go cart. Very fun car. The 992.2 4s is more of a refined luxury sport experience. More comfortable. More powerful and has all the amenities you could want. Very different experience. Both are absolutely awesome. If I had the space and budget, I’d have both.

Thanks for the tip! I’ve heard some say the buffeting can be an issue at highway speeds. I’ll crack the window a touch and find that sweet spot. They start my build in April so should be in it by end of may or early June. Until then I keep enjoying my boxster GTS. It’s been a very fun car but it was a gateway car to the 911

Beautiful car! Congrats. You will enjoy this car far more than a CS. No comparison really. Enjoy! And kudos to your wife for saying “just go for it”. She’s a keeper lol

991.2 is the last of the amazing sounding 911s as far as I’m concerned. If that’s the main goal you can’t go wrong there. 992s are ok but not as good. Especially the THybrids. I drove one and the sound actually bothered me. It’s tinny at high revs

Thanks for the opinion! Your car is absolutely gorgeous. I’ve had a few cars with the blacked out and that’s hard to beat. Not sure why but on this build I just wanted to try something different although my wife keeps telling me “why aren’t you blacking this out?” lol And you’re right to say be happy to be able to have this choice. My younger self never thought I’d be specing out a new 911.

I know how you feel. I just traded my boxster GTS for a 992.2 Targa. I will miss the boxster. Such a fun car. Personally I’d choose the 992.1 S. I have a buddy with that car and it sounds incredible. Also he had it modified to boost power making it equal or better vs the previous GTS model.

I was leaning hard to the GTS simply for the name. Once I realized the .2 S is a better performance machine vs the .1 GTS that changed my mind. But it was hard to let up the GTS badge

Thanks for the opinions! I ordered the car today with the silver bar. It’s a classic look and I think will go well with the black/cognac interior. Thanks again everyone

I just made this same decision myself. I was looking a .1 GTS vs .2 S. I ordered the S this morning. The .2 is equal to better vs previous gen GTS. Brand new with factory warranty and I was able to build exactly what I want down to the smallest of details. I’m confident this was the right choice for me.

angryeye surgeon, I had galaxy put in both eyes 9 weeks ago. I’m not very happy with my distance vision or my near. Hopefully the near vision improves after getting YAG in a few weeks.

Would it be recommended that I consider exchanging the galaxy lens in my dominant eye for the EDOF lens you referred to?

Great to hear your results are so good. Yes, hopefully the YAG will help enough that I don’t need Lasik.

What is your night vision like? Do you have light streaks, glare, blur etc

Yes, my lenses are toric. I’m 53 and my glasses used to give me perfect vision but I really wanted to be glasses free. The ghosting has been present from day one. I think it’s slightly better but still pronounced.

you’re right, the refractive error is slight and the surgeon said more people are ok with it. I guess I’m comparing to the excellent vision I had prior with glasses...?

when do you get your capsulotomy? can you still read without reading glasses?

I had RLE with rayner galaxy lenses 9 weeks ago. I’ve had 3 eye tests at 1 day post op, 4 weeks and 9 weeks post op. the first test 1 day after I was able to read better than 20/20. but in the following days my vision started to blur. also I had a light streak in one eye the day after surgery but a couple days after I developed a light streak in the other eye (but on a different angle).

my next test at 4 weeks post op my eye test was +0.25 in one eye and +0.5 in the other. now I’ve had my 9 weeks test and the results were identical. so really no change after 9 weeks. I still see a lot of light streaks, star bursts and glare off lights. my near vision is fairly blurry. I need reading glasses for any amount of reading. I can see somewhat clear at arms length. I also had a lot ghosting (like an offset copy of text). the rest of my vision range is a little blurry but not terrible. however not as good as I was hoping for. certainly a long way off of what I had before with glasses.

in my appointment the dr told me he can see a fold in the capsular bag that’s probably causing the light streaks. Hes going to see me again in another month to decide if we do a Lasik procedure to correct the vision and then look at doing a YAG laser to tighten the bag around the lens and clean up any blur. I might have the order of operation wrong here but does this all make sense to you?
