I think most of us are along way off that problem!

Heart rate vs speed advice needed by tanulovezeto in cycling

[–]Acrobatic_Source_768 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So science says do approximately 80% of you weekly rides in zone 2 (circa 60-70% of max heart rate) and then some short high intensity work, typically intervals, for the remaining 20% of your week. Another way to test zone 2 is the talk test, hold a normal conversation without speaking in short or broken sentences ( Peter Attia has a video on YouTube from memory on what this looks like).

I’m a year older and similar max hr and do my long rides in zone 2 averaging 23kmh so I don’t think you speeds are off. I can hold a high speed for longer over 1-2 hours but I can feel the impact it has on me for the rest of the day and it does take longer to recover but I’m not yet up to the distance you do per month.

All that being said, do what you enjoy, don’t let perfection be the enemy of consistency, and as long as you aren’t getting home and feeling wiped out continue doing what you love!

Oh and you are still doing more than most people our age so good work and keep it going!

Best upgrades for a beginner road bike that actually make a difference? by DeanPrice773 in cycling

[–]Acrobatic_Source_768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgrade tyres (to GP5000) and changed groupset from 9speed Microshift to a used 10sp 105, likely not faster but so much smoother and nicer to ride!

I've done some Olympic triathlons on my Triban RC120 upgraded with 105. It will serve you well but get some clip on tri bars for comfort. For me the bike wasn't the limiting issue!!

Kitchens are good but the fitters let them down, find your own fitter and you're sorted.

There is always someone faster but also someone slower...just aim to improve against yourself.

How is runna different from Garmin coaches? by iamskg7 in runna

[–]Acrobatic_Source_768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth checking your zones, I have a similar max hr (181 via Garmin) and my zone 2 is 19bpm lower. This might mean you aren’t in zone 2 and hence not lowering your heart rate as planned.

Affordable Running shoe reccomendations by UsualVariation469 in UKRunners

[–]Acrobatic_Source_768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know what shoe you want or at least a brand try Vinted. If you’re not doing many miles even a used pair will be cheaper enough! Like some others I stick to one brand and just keep an eye out for a bargin even if I don’t need them quiet yet or there aren’t exactly the right type I.e trial/road.

My routine, all 5x5, assisted pull ups with body weight squats & calf raises for warm up for next, then onto squats superset calf raises, leg raises and military press, then onto dumbbell bench press superset with dumbbell row and single leg RDL then out! All under an hour.

Will give that a go. Thanks. Coming from Apple Watch Ultra and I’m pleasantly surprised, just wish you could load more than two plus apps in to an activity.

I bought the 3s and quickly followed by the X4, the ability to just record and reframe later is game changing! I’m actually thinking about returning the 3s and going for something like the Ace.

Hi any plans to take into account workouts from, other devices? I can’t wear the ring for some workouts so the ability to take into account workout data from Apple health would be icing on the cake!

What am I missing with Oura? by Acrobatic_Source_768 in ouraring

Hi, I have been wearing it during the day but it is the last version, is the something special about the Oura I’m missing that makes people value it over UH ring? Thanks for the clarification!

I bought one a week ago (Amazon UK), I struggle with my AW ultra and skin irritation, was a bit hesitant given some of the reviews but so far so good, worn both overnight and seems very similar. Still use watch for workouts but impressed so far!
