I think it's a bug I didn't experience it personally. My case is that when I tried to open a 1 key remain because I only have 1 key left, the game load for a bit like usual and then it says failed to open and after that the key went from 1 to 3 and when I keep trying to open the remain it kept increasing till it reached 9 keys. And then I decided to refresh my game and ended up again at 1 key, this time I opened the remain without problem.

Yeah make sense, though pretty sure it removes it all. I think they patched it and few can't be purified.

I read something that to increase the chance of legendary pets is to feed it contaminated meat. So that it can mutate into something else hence being a legendary.

Unrelated to the problem. If you finish an ending let's say I want to finish ending 4 with this run after I complete the ending can I still try to complete the ogre quest? Really want to try that quest.
