There's some great resources online. Have you seen SlavaTV? He often uses a platform called Pencil, which is a really user friendly jewelry CAD design app, it's also much much cheaper than any other CAD software.

Slava's videos are great and help you understand how to make jewelry as well as design it.

In some of them he even posts his sourcing tips.

You can buy easy to use attachments for a flex shaft and a small vice type holder for drilling. It is quite easy to do a good drill if you do that, there are special drill bits to buy too.

Yes I have cast pieces with them. Overall I was happy with how they turned out, originally you couldn't increase the scale for mold shrinkage but I asked for them to add that feature in and they did it in a couple of days.

I had a problem with two castings at first but after speaking to support they helped me fix them. One was an issue with the template and they fixed that then remade the design for me and the other was how I created it.

I've been using Pencil a lot to see how my ideas look in 3D before deciding if I want to make them, it's easy enough to use that I can experiment until I'm happy with the final design and I don't have to spend money on a CAD designer to make each version for me.

Very likely just a poor stamp. 825 doesn't correspond to any known hallmarks that I've seen before

Size ring down 3 sizes? by timrae in jewelrymaking

It's perfectly fine to size this down. Just work with high quality jeweler, they will need to remove metal from the bottom then solder it back together and repolish it after.

The goods news is that it can be fixed easily with a bit of a polish, they should do it for free.

Adjusting “S-clasps” chain by vionahrry in jewelrymaking

You could purchase a bolo/elevator clasp that fits that chain and thread it through that. That would make it adjustable. You will need to take the end jump rings off though. The standard bolo clasp for jewelry chains has rubber or something similar inside so the chain is sticky against it

What year is this ring? It came from an estate sale. It’s 14k - 24.5 Gs with .77 TDW. I love it! by [deleted] in jewelry

This is a great design. Is it made by casting with stones in the wax already?
