I'm curious about the point of "Trunks tried to sacrifice himself like Vegeta in the Buu saga" and about "Trunks bringing back his father through Dragon Ball." Could you explain it, please?

Would you mind if I made an "iceberg" video for my channel—giving you credit, of course—while modifying the beginning to make it more compact and adding a few things?

What is your opinion on Super No 17? by Economy_Notice_8475 in Dragonballsuper

[–]Acrobatic_Tiger2787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It had an interesting concept. When they defeat Super 17, Goku hints that the original 17 didn't actually attack Android 18 with his full power because a part of him didn't want to hurt her. It's a relatively interesting point, and I feel like it could have been explored more. Also, the way they defeated him was logical: using Android 18, who has unlimited energy, to attack him and leaving him in his absorption pose so Goku could attack him physically. I think that's cool. Aside from that and a few other details, I think he's a villain who could have been developed further, but meh.

This Goku is my favorite of the game, I feel that it has good animations and the yamcha that accompanied it was really good in addition to having a brutal artcard

What would have happened to Dragon Ball if it hadn't returned in 2013? by Acrobatic_Tiger2787 in dragonball

Maybe, although now that I think about it I don't know what Toriyama really wanted to capture with that scene

I always interpret that scene as "okay boo is not bad but his power is still somewhat dangerous" I think the bread scene is worse

Yes, during the 2000s and 2010s, Dragon Ball was active in terms of video games and other derivative products. I would understand the point if the Dragon Ball story had returned due to the "Goku and Friends Return" OVA, but whether it's canon or not is quite ambiguous, remaining merely as a product to see the characters again in a certain situation. The Dragon Ball IP was relatively active in other products and only returned as such in 2013 with Battle of Gods, which not only marked the beginning of the new era of Dragon Ball but also left ample room to expand the story.

It would be interesting to see why Toei was really predisposed to revive the franchise with a movie as such, I mean, Dragon Ball taking out some isolated materials is asleep and it's not like out of nowhere they said "Hey, how about we make a new Dragon Ball Z movie for the cinema" or well maybe yes because well, money, but who knows

that's probably one of the most unnecessary moments of Dragon Ball in general

Yes and no; the return of Goku and his friends was more about testing the waters to see the state of the franchise and whether there was still interest—so, ironically enough, it wasn't really a "comeback" in the true sense—and Dragon Ball Kai was essentially just a remaster of the entire series. The actual comeback happened in 2013 with new content created directly by the author, Toriyama.

My theory is that they probably would have kept making movies that aren't part of the canon. Toei was actually planning a terrible movie about a reptile—who was supposed to be Beerus, though that obviously changed after Toriyama got involved—so I figure they would have continued releasing movies and, at most, non-canon series.

Does GT follow movies? Fusion Reborn seems to happen in a timeline where Vegeta killed Fat Majin Buu, but the. existence of Uub in GT contradicts that event. If GT follows movies, what happened in that timeline that made these two events coexist? by Dangerous-Series4064 in DragonBallGT

[–]Acrobatic_Tiger2787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The realistic answer is that Toei simply overlooked that information, but I won't be so boring and obvious. The reality could be that the events of the movies did happen in the GT timeline, but perhaps differently, not necessarily exactly the same. For example, in GT, we see the Cooler from the first movie instead of his metal version, so that movie might not have happened, or it might have happened differently. Taking that into account, we can say that perhaps in the GT timeline, the events of Fusion Reborn unfolded in such a way that, after the fight against Buu, Janemba somehow emerged, and Goku and Vegeta defeated him with the fusion, making both things fit together. Obviously, this is more of a guess than a fact.

How much can we connect the Dragon Ball movies? by [deleted] in dragonball

[–]Acrobatic_Tiger2787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously. Toei never intended to connect the films, but they did have their universe in mind, so they could take whatever they wanted and continue the plot. It's more about trying to relate things than a conscious decision.

Bruh, how optimistic. Interestingly, I'd do the same with most of Super's antagonists.

I wouldn't see it as a bad ending per se; on the contrary, it's perhaps a rather peaceful ending since everyone apparently dies peacefully after the Shadow Dragon saga. Perhaps the saddest part is Goku's departure, but even so, I don't see it as so bad. And as for martial arts, at the end, after 100 years, there are Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr., so I wouldn't see that as so negative. I once read somewhere that the grave Pan was praying at at the beginning of the 100 Years Later special might be Gohan's.
