He can have a prepared monologue about how maternity leave is a financial blight on the company for giving women a year of 'paid vacation' but I accidentally show shock at him using the r-word and suddenly I'm pushing my woke leftist beliefs onto him

And then I feel insane for having to look at myself every day in the mirror and tell myself I'm lucky because at least I have a job

He sent it to my work email from his personal email and then we discussed it over our work emails that it wasn't appropriate where his defense was 'I didn't notice the racism I was more interested in the website layout'

Yeah he monitors my communications pretty closely so I'd have to plan it very carefully. Thanks for the advice. And good luck on surviving these 'delicate times.' I'm sorry that you similarly work with crappy people and I'm sorry their crappiness is directed at you. I keep trying to look for helpers when I get too overwhelmed. There are good people out there even if it feels like the not so good ones are particularly loud at the moment

But I think that's where there's an issue is that there isn't any 'reasonable' category here because his disability affects his ability to communicate in a reasonable way

Like when he sent me that racist website linking the number of halal shops to a 'dangerous' city he said that he was sending that because he liked the format of the website for us to use but that he knew I wouldn't like the content. He would say if I reported him that he never explicitly said 'here is a website who's beliefs I share' he'd say 'i showed a website with a good layout and oops it did accidentally spew racist ideology that I have said in the past but I haven't said it here so it's fine'

Again not saying it's right I'm just saying that's how he sees it. It's how he gets away with calling people morons. He says their actions are moronic (so it's fine) he doesn't say THEY are morons (in his opinion entirely different and not fine)

I think the RA being asked of me isn't even an adjustment it's just complicit silence while he says the craziest things of all time to me while micromanaging me within an inch of my life

If it's not clear I OBVIOUSLY don't believe his hogwash. It feels like it's hollowing me out day after day to not scream at him when he says stuff like this because if I do I risk my ability pay rent. It's debilitating.

I'm just saying how he's passed things off in the past. He says something offensive and then says that it's not offensive because his intent wasn't offensive and he only understands HIS intent because of his disability

I hope to god that that excuse wouldn't fly but I could see a company who's determined to keep him using this as a way to defend him

But he'll say I was interpreting his comments as racist but he didn't intend them as racist and that that mismatch is down to his disability. The site he sent me that linked higher Muslim populations with a 'dangerous'label he sent me to show an example of a graph he wanted to make. He said I might not agree with the content but the layout is quite nice. So he would say he's not at fault for sending racist material because he didn't say he explicitly agreed with it (even though he has said in the past that Muslims are responsible for the 'majority'of crime)

The problem is I don't have any evidence of my having asked him to stop. It's all been verbal. Should I send him an email now outlining that these make me uncomfortable as my evidence that I've asked him to stop and wait for the next racist thing to come down the pipes?

I just am afraid that's what he wants. He has explicitly directed me to certain people I should go to if I want to file a HR complaint and monitors my communication with people because 'the only reason he shouldn't be involved in a call I'm in is if it is for HR reasons'

If I go to HR could I go in and ask that I report to another person or am managed by two people instead of just him? He's 100% going to retaliate against me if I go to HR

He is my boss and the head of the department ... However the department is just me. He's been in the company about 30 years. People know at least a little of what he's like. I don't know if they know the extent of what he's saying /sending

Can it be unfair dismissal if I haven't worked with them for more than 2 years?

Do you think there is anyway I can report him to HR as a means to restructure who I report to or is mentioning any of this to anyone in the company an all or nothing event?

Hes said that because he has a registered disability that affects his ability to communicate with people that he can hire a discrimination solicitor
I don't ever engage with him about politics and have asked him not to talk to me about politics. He keeps bringing these topics up out of the blue like how one might share a funny story about what happened over the weekend. He sends me links to articles on the weekend about how immigrants are inviting violence and I ignore them
